Yeah this is the tricky thing.
Does 4chan need moderation? With the way it was before? Yes. People have cited up and down this thread that the reason the site turned to shit was partially due to bad moderation.
Why are all the mods/jannies complete shit and also retarded? Because you're right, the people who are both patient enough and have the temperance to do that job also have the wits to not spend their precious free time doing such an insane and unrewarding task.
So how do fix it? How do you attract moderators to work such a site that is also famously unprofitable?

You have to create a community that people want to moderate because they’re passionate about it and genuinely want to see it thrive. I’ve seen this happen at a smaller scale in group chats and stuff like that. 4chan did not do that, and now they really can’t undo the damage that’s been done because they’ve spent so many years chasing off the people that did.

Also, even fewer people will want to be jannies now because of the awful security the site has/had. Come give your real name to a website that got hacked and shut down because they were using 13 year old software for basic functions, and that also didn’t change their copyright disclaimer for 10 YEARS.

After reading Sharty /soy/, reddit r/4chan & KF 4chan thread I can confidently say:

- The guy that hacked 4chan absolutely punked and humiliated lazy gookmoot and paid mods by hacking the website with a PDF exploit. 4chan got touched and this definetely did not happen before, ever.
- Jannies deserve it, and they deserve to be tormented. They were fucking around too much. 4chan hired too much jannies on an already botted up consensus cracking platform with 70% bots. I was running into jannies all the time in normal discussion and if you BTFO'ed them they would ban you for 3 days.
- 4chan will come back online, but with 15 min captcha shit, no unique ip, all this fucking shit being blown into the fan with degenerate loser mods and jannies...4chan definetely won't be the same, it wasn't already but now only the bottom of the barrel will browse it

i dont see how 4chan will come back considering the main issue is that ancient 10,000 line PHP mess they run the site on is super vulnerable. That would require weeks of patching and judging by the technical incompetency of upper "management" (i use this term loosely) i dont think that is a feasible goal for them. Unless they defy all expectations and just reboot the site with the same PHP base lol
