It's sad Captain Gem didn't elevate privilege using one of the bazillion `sudo`, `su` or FreeBSD Kernel exploits that have been discovered since 2016 (CVE-2016-1881, CVE-2019-14287, etc.) after he got shell access. A `sudo rm -rf /*` would've been unrecoverable since the tranny jannies almost certainly had zero backups.

In fact he could've brute-forced the root password on the server since earlier `su` versions had no protection against that.

Can't speak for 4chan specifically, but 2016 was the last straw for the establishment when Bolsanaro, Brexit, Modi, and Trump happened back-to-back-to-back.
