I remember when on most imageboards and tangentially related communities, simps for egirls were ruthlessly mocked. Turns out all those egirls needed to do was put on an anime girl mask and they'd get those same people begging to send them money to fund the egirl and her boyfriend's vacations. The damage vtuberfags have done can't be overstated. They're easily the modern day bronies down to infesting fucking everywhere and being obnoxious, though trading the inherent weirdness of ponyshit for the complete lack of creativity idol culture perpetuates.

It is a shame we're denied seeing these people freak out on 4chan, but it is what it is.

Did any of you guys still go on 4chan? I started going on like 2010 but I just ended up only really using /vr/ to talk about old games.

I remember friend showing 4chan to me in 2005 or 2006. Lurked it for five'ish years almost daily and just stopped going one day.
(Would go on to read some threads on /b/ or /pol/ few times a year afterwards, usually during some bigger world "happenings")

It's the classic streamer parasocial relationships but for people who thought they were too cool to fall into the trap, with some idol management implemented to help tardwrangle them as well as milk them for all the money they're worth. In hindsight, it's amazing how long it took for vtubers to take off considering how lethally powerful the combination of streamer and idol management really is.

personally I think new users is good. the retards will be banned or laughed off the site (or ideally become content) and many of the off-topic sections of the forum really need more activity which is what many of the 'cuck rapefugees will be here for.
also i guarantee that 100% of thunderdome posters used /pol/, adding a few more /pol/ retards wont change much.

New users are good if they're interested in discussion. The Farms isn't a very good substitute for image boards, having very few images that are a bitch to post. The Farms also strongly discourages spam, even in text form. Since many of us who are already here have also posted on 4chan and other image boards before, I have hopes that we'll get a few new quality posters, and the rest will migrate to other image boards or return to 4chan when it reopens.

Personally if I had known this site existed I would have been here already. I think for a lot of people 4chan going down simply expanded their world to include new sites. Not for the sake of taking "sanctuary" or supplanting the native population. People can have multiple homes.

I'm a little surprised /vp/ had so many dedicated jannies. Of course, things could have changed in the 5 years since I posted there regularly, since after SWSH rolled around I realized I didn't want to buy Game Freak's garbage anymore which left me with little reason to keep hanging out there. But at least in the time period of around 2014 to 2018, it was pretty common for there to be nights where the /vp/ jannies would just completely check out for like 5 hours at a time and the board would quickly degenerate into nothing but shitposting and furry porn dumps.
