How likely is a balkanization of the site if/when it does come back? Like /pol/ and /lgbt/ get their own containment domains (sorta how the 4chan/4channel thing worked but on a greater scale) and the hobby boards also get a site.

I'm probably wishing for too much, I know. Just wish shartytards could go after the more controversial boards and leave the cool boards alone. I think it would also make the site more resilient against attacks like this, though I'm not a web dev by any means.

You're probably being hit with something because you don't have a static IP. Which means you're in a third world country(or maybe upside down prison island - not sure if they migrated to static IP over dynamic yet). Or you're phoneposting.
Granted there's a chance I'm part of some weird privileged class of "regular users" and don't have to deal with that shit as a result but considering I've been hit with a fuckton of dumb ass bans I highly doubt it.
The only time I've ever seen the 900 second timer(or additional 60 second timer) is when phoneposting via a mobile network.

i've also never ever had this issue, on two pcs throughout every week. the only time i would get it is on my phone but i'm not a faggy phoneposter.

Best you can hope for is a migration tbh. Right now 4chan users are scattered to the winds trying to find a home. Anyone who migrates to a mainstream platform like Discord or Twitter is lost forever. That leaves people who stick with Chans. Sharty could be colonized and lose its identity, 8chan Moe or Kun could revive the 8chan name. This is under the idea that these people won’t come crawling back once the website returns

balkanization already happened, the current form of kiwifarms is a result of the userbase fleeing from /int/ to /cow/ and the cwcki and then twice more when /cow/ and julay failed. The only users remaining on 4chan were the ones that were so low-quality they either didn't notice the decrease in board quality or were unwelcome in the bunkers and kicked out

I honestly don't think it comes back because even Hiroshimoot knows that you have to have a stable enough site to run ads, even if they're just AI slop ads. I'm still assuming the PDF thing is a lie, but if it is real, then someone has to fix up code and he certainly isn't going to do it. And getting doxxed kinda' tends to keep people away so he's gonna' be short on staff. I can easily see him just cutting and running to whatever other scam thing he has lined up. I'd be glad to be proven wrong, but eh.
