One of the Nullposts in this thread was specifically denying requests to close registrations.

Most of the spam comes from discord servers. Back when 4chan had IPs, stickied threads they couldn't even reach 1 thousand unique IPs most of the time. It's by no means a "major" outlet for anything, that would be twitter.
are you fuckin' serious? So 4chan spam essentially doesn't happen and somehow actual, real humans in fucking tranny discords are the ones typing up tens of thousands of spam posts per day? Get out of here with this kind of stupid

Skitzotheory: The site was left intentionally unsecure so the feds could quietly break in whenever they wanted.
My brother in Christ. The average 4channer has not seen daylight in 6 years and their greatest achivement was not shitting their pants in their highschool graduation ceremony.
The CIA/FBI/NSA/KGB/NAMBLA doesn't need back door hacking access to sabotage them. They already cut themselves at the knee long ago.

I tried to keep up with all the info in here, but did all the ban reasons/private reasons leak? Or was it just that one screenshot showing that's how it works?

I got banned for what I believe was a retarded reason, and would like to see if there's a private reason in there. It wasn't an active ban anymore though so it might've also been deleted on 4chan anyway.

I'm not saying the method itself is hard. Not at all. Just that I'm pretty sure someone would've tried this by now because /tg/ itself has had a ton of trolls and shit which is why /qst/ had to be made. If there was an exploit to be had with uploading PDFs, they would've found it long ago.
Yeah I see your point, but there's nothing to really suggest that this hasn't happened before, just with a more stealthy attacker. Considering the complete lack of care shown by the state of technical infrastructure, I doubt the mods would've even known if anyone had gotten in if the sharty poster hadn't made it very obvious.

From there, we exploit a mistaken suid binary to elevate to the global user.
Wished they elaborated a little bit on that. I have no idea what to think of a "mistaken suid binary", nor how you can explore a remote system undetected for something like that without anyone eventually noticing.

It will be ready within 24hrs. The hardest bit is finding the outdated packages and emulating the server hardware environment but I might be overcooking it.
you only really need to get bsd 10.1 running and install Ghostscript onto it and feed it a malformed Postscript file that's mis-named as a .pdf, it's pretty clear from the code that 4chan will shell out any .pdf file successfully uploaded to Ghostscript so you don't even need to get 4chan running at all to prove the attack
