I don't remember much about FMA except the dog scene. I didn't find it interesting when it was on Adult Swim. I do remember Inyuasha only because they would scream each other's names so much every episode it's written into my fucking soul. KAGOME!!! INYUASHA!!!!

a lot of anime people try to recommend that is not goonbait is just like "cool" in the how an 8 year old boy sees cool. Robots fighting, magic, over the top action sequences, and plots that are very over the top.

On your complaints on the japanese in general, apart from anime, maybe something like kurosawa's 7 samurai, or the film kagemusha. They are alien, but I wouldn't say they're goonbait like anime is.

I've watched what people consider "good" anime too and I didn't like it. It's also hyper-gooner and every show has weird pedo shit in it. Even DBZ has Master Yoshi creeping on Bulma trying to get her panties and she's canonically 13. All of it just creeps me out, it's fucking weird goonbait, it's super spastic and annoying, and it's over the top emotional manipulation. I honestly can't think of a single show I've ever seen that I can't find flaws with. There is no Japanese Fight Club. Their culture and people are too alien to my own to make a product that is truly great.

The best manga/anime is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The entire medium of manga exists solely so that Hirohiko Araki would want to be a mangaka and create his masterpiece. And the only reason anime exists is to adapt it to animation.

I'm a Catholic and even I'm not so prude that I object to one character dressing like that. She's a space bounty hunter who does the whole femme fatale approach, and she often fumbles it anyway. Do you dislike James Bond movies because the Bond Girls are sexualized? Also, like I said before, Faye is a well written and interesting character, not just a generic piece of eye candy, and she isn't anyones romantic interest either.

I always took the bounty hunter show girl dressing like that as a commentary on the overtly sexual nature of television and advertising, it feels somewhat realistic in that sense.

However if your bar is having a strictly moral anime where sexualization is practically demonized check out Fist of the North Star. The only creepy characters are all bad guys and Kenshiro punches them and makes them explode.
