I miss those days, the closest you get to romcom slop nowadays is Rent A Girlfriend or some random Isekai.
There's a single exception though, and that's Hyakkano. While it's a romcom it's a canonical harem (well more like a cult), the threads have a similar chaotic energy to them. It doesn't help that the author is a schizo that feeds into the chaos and all of the characters are lunatics in their own way.
I pop in every now and then to check in on the threads for a fun time during the drier parts of the year.

I refuse to take a rent-a-girlfriend seriously. I used to think Nisekoi was a fucking bait show but Kanojo just takes the cake. I did get an absloute hearty chuckle from the cuck Chizuru scene and that s4 will finally animate it, given if I remember correctly the author apologised for it I suspect they'll retract a lot of it. They at least have some good doujins...

Maidposter was the reason I left /aicg/ and /lmg/, it was too much cancer for me

I was on the image gen side of things. The /g/ threads were pretty notoriously bad and I think split into 3? One for cumrag and his sycophants treating the thread like a discord server, one for dall3 and I guess more recently dall4 and then another local general which was still pretty bad but was at least a little more tolerable than the cumrag one. Stupid as it was though, and as bad as it got literally right before the site got hacked to death, /h/ had pretty much the king image gen thread on the site for actual discussion.
but man, there was so much schizophrenia involved in AI generals. And it was all facilitated by the wild lack of moderation(on /h/ especially since lmao /h/ had a SINGLE janny - and /hdg/ was more active than probably most /vg/ threads).

Basically it was /vg/ for mobile games but 1000x times slower. Threads lasted months but it was chill.
There were also some ephemeral threads that could be interesting, but also slow.
Also there was some "gacha drama" thread that was pretty active.

No, maybe I’m optimistic, but even if they get the site back up and fix all the exploits, they will lose the last few remaining good posters. For many this was the last straw, showing just how decayed 4chan truly was. Why should I bother posting on a site that only has 1 good thread a day and continues to get worse?
