Why would anyone still use 4chan at all? The 200 second countdown is extremely annoying, imagine if Kiwi Farms forced you to wait 200 seconds to reply.

there are only two imageboards that have people using it and 4chan is one of themWhy would anyone still use 4chan at all? The 200 second countdown is extremely annoying, imagine if Kiwi Farms forced you to wait 200 seconds to reply.
Rapeape mentioned they had to coordinate the devs across multiple timezones. If I'm charitable it is because only a select few know how to handle the outdated code. But I'm not. They just looked for the cheapest people they can find. The code wasn't updated for 10 year either. If they had a regular team someone at SOME point would've done any kind of updating. The only thing they did was add some scripts to filter shit. (it is hilarious to read the horseshit how they were working on an update and it wouldve been ready in a few months. Right, so after 10 years of negligence they suddenly were about to update everything)The fix was so shitty it's surprising it wasn't back up within 24-48 hours like the other outages that occurred previously and were probably more bandaids to something breaking. Then they could've saved the 40% of the userbase they lost.
A lot of the early days were probably wasted about panicking over being doxxed and other crisis management stuff (raising janny morale and waiting for Hiro to email back).
The hacker was very considerate to release their attack vector and every step they did the very night of the hack so in retrospect it should've been a lot easier to apply the band-aid and get the site back online much sooner.
Imagine if the hacker just silently dumped the data. Those idiots may have never figured out what happened and the site may very well still be offline now in fear of it happening again. On the positive side in this scenario they'd be forced to make a new codebase and would be much better off in the long-run, except for Hiro having to shell out for a competent dev.
You're targeted for slowdown or you have cookie issues. Right when it came back, I had a 120 second captcha timer that was independent of how long between replies it was (if I made a post, then a second an hour later, I had to wait 120s for the captcha), but I cleared my cookies for 4chan and it was fine after that. I have the normal 60s between posts. Why would anyone still use 4chan at all? The 200 second countdown is extremely annoying, imagine if Kiwi Farms forced you to wait 200 seconds to reply.
I got rid of my 4chan X and my filterlists so I wouldn’t be tempted to go back but mine was mostly filtering ragebait words.GPT is also nice for writing out filters, the syntax isn't always 1:1 what 4chanX uses but it's helpful.
I'd post my filters but 90% of them are for one thread and the 3 schizos who shit it up so it wouldn't be helpful to anyone here.
Most of the threads are probably made by bots tbh. Someone in this thread pointed out the moment the site came back up that it had a lot of dead threads being pumped out, but with no replies. It's as if the bots weren't working properly to auto-bump anything. I'm sure there are a horde of mentally ill people who do indeed take part in this as well, but I'm really wagering on 4chan leaning more on being a prime example of dead internet theory.Imagine your life being so devoid of entertainment and stimulation that posting this kind of a thread is the highlight of your day and you're doing it on a board dedicated to things that aim to solve the exact problem you're having. The sequence of events that leads to this behavior being internalized as something worthwhile must be fascinating.
Honestly they don't care. The lemmings that went back crave the dopamine in replies even if its artificial. But even when looking at the 'i'm so happy to be back!' threads when the site came back up, you realized many of them weren't even aware of other *chans existing or openly expressed how they went to reddit/twitter/tumblr/instagram as an alternative.I doubt that 95% of 4chan users are aware how bot-infested and heavily moderated the site is. Hell, I've been browsing it for about a decade and I never knew about all the inner workings.
Hey @Null I have a great idea! Why would anyone still use 4chan at all? The 200 second countdown is extremely annoying, imagine if Kiwi Farms forced you to wait 200 seconds to reply.
Oh shit, he did the thingHey @Null I have a great idea!
This continues to be nothing more than a schizo theory with no evidence and I'm really tired of reading it.Most of the threads are probably made by bots tbh. Putting on my tinfoil hat: that's a fed or some chick related to a fed.I haven't been on /v/ in ages. Did girls actually actually decide to post nudes there?
The main ones I can think of are schizos who would be banned anywhere else, and anons who don't want to ditch the anonymityWhy would anyone still use 4chan at all? The 200 second countdown is extremely annoying, imagine if Kiwi Farms forced you to wait 200 seconds to reply.
I think the "no girls on the internet" has been debunked watching girls on their phones in the street. The nudes constantly showing up on various boards.Putting on my tinfoil hat: that's a fed or some chick related to a fed.
"Hey guys, 4chan isn't TOTALLY dead yet, we have GIRLS! Who post their BOOBS! Please come back, please, we need your data mined for glownigger interests!"
Brittany Venti sure let herself go!I think the "no girls on the internet" has been debunked watching girls on their phones in the street. The nudes constantly showing up on various boards.
As someone who skimmed nearly every single page since the hack, I know what image he's referring to. It was a very blatantly obvious screenshot of the /v/ catalog sorted by newest threads where the user who posted it was trying to pass it off as "yeah the catalog just looks like that normally! dead site!"This continues to be nothing more than a schizo theory with no evidence and I'm really tired of reading it.
This one's an attention whore from /b/, I'm 90% sure I recognize the lighting and leg cutting scars—only saw one thread from her the other day after peeking in out of curiosity, but people in it were talking as if she posts there all the time and about "past threads" so I guess it's one of those e-whores with a bunch of orbiters.I haven't been on /v/ in ages. Uh... seems like a keeper...

The site should've stayed dead. That's the only way forward. New *chan sites could've sprouted up if people weren't pleased with the prexisting sites and a great filtering would've occurred with this hard reset.
She looks exactly like the fat chick of the meme where wojack is porking some pig with the LSD tapestry.I think the "no girls on the internet" has been debunked watching girls on their phones in the street. The nudes constantly showing up on various boards.
The ones that didn't care for 4chan to come back weren't on 4chan. The ones that said to move over to another site or laughing at jannies were insta-deleted.'i'm so happy to be back!' threads
