It's just a self-reaffirming urban legend and standard opinion silo effect. Truth is /pol/ is and always has been easy to get overrun by a couple shitposter bots, anyone who browsed the forum years and years ago would remember that fat pig guy spreading his cock and balls and that getting plastered everywhere for months.

I got a 30 day ban once for a "banned string of words" or something of the like, but they didn't tell me what it was and to this day I don't know what it was. I was told to go protest my case in their irc which I flatly denied and that was more or less the beginning of the end of my days there. The jannies and lack of transparency in moderation and how it is handed out are by far the worst part of 4chan imo. The 4chan hack and janny phonebooking pretty much confirmed everything about the jannies there that people suspected.

Trying to post urls from kiwifarms or competing imageboards leads to this. There's also a bunch of obscure other stuff that leads to 30 day long autobans. I got one a while ago when I tried posting the link to download Chance (mobile 4chan app)

The only question that remains unanswered is when exactly the mods started to stop giving a shit.

From the /j/ leaks it was obvious the few mods that cares were not listened to. Many suggestions people posted to improve moderation were also floated by mods and jannies in /j/. But nothing ever comes of it. You're shoveling shit but there is no vision behind it. The admin just collects his paycheck and hasn't interacted with 4chan for years, the mod that sits as acting admin is a canadian jeet. The team can barely update the site itself, any changes are just layers of script layered on top of the (outdated) core. Any mod that cares about 4chan gets burned out. The only mods that stay are people that just enjoy the powertrip. Each of them having their own personal triggers. Moderation becomes arbitrary.

And it is not like they cannot shape 4chan. They managed to kill cumbrain in 3 weeks flat by filtering the word and banning anyone trying to avoid the filter. Same with people complaining about IPs (I am a unique poster posting in this thread got you banned). They managed to contain the pony shit too. And that is still enforced, even a whiff of pony or actually on-topic ponies still get you banned. Yet they refuse to do that for anything. No /ai/ - slop board. No attempts at trying to merge and limit threads of a happening. Nothing.

Now the only jannies still around are jannies unfazed by the doxing. The lowest quality jannies. I know moot made a lot of mistakes, but he cared, he tried.

The only permaban I ever got was for being Barneyfag which I wasn't. I actually successfully appealed that. I shared a router with the floor I lived in in a building and a couple floors above and below and once got a ban for being a camslut. I'm pretty sure I knew which chick had done it and she was hot. I was pissed I couldn't find copies. For scientific research.

Luckily I could change the IP instantly.

That was also helpful when I once dissed some Romanian 12 year old who was boasting about his botnet and how he could totally fuck my shit up. And I said "lmao fag." And then he actually fucked my shit up. This was back when using your naked IP on irc was still a thing (it wasn't for me after that and I used cotse ssh tunnels after that).

The jannies were better then though. If you got some arbitrary ban from some gigantic autist, it was his personal weird obsession. Like there were always topics you knew some spasticus autisticus species janny would freak out about and you'd wait for that guy to go to sleep before starting a thread.

It's a give and take, but there's still a difference between a general being invaded and a spot to talk about X, repeatedly, being shit up.
