I voted "became one with the hoard" because cats often sneak off to find a place to die (but never too far away), and there's probably dozens of kittycat-sized holes that Sorbet can slink off to that Chris will never think to look. The hoard is probably so bad-smelling that even once decomp sets in, they won't notice it, and eventually will probably be one of the "dozens of dead cats" found in cleaning out hoarder/abandonment situations.Or a box fell on top of him and he became one with the hoard.
Actually 14 BC is the cleanest it's been in the past 10 years.. It's just stacked ceiling to floor with unpacked moving boxes in every room. 90% of it is Barb's junk.I voted "became one with the hoard" because cats often sneak off to find a place to die (but never too far away), and there's probably dozens of kittycat-sized holes that Sorbet can slink off to that Chris will never think to look. Admittedly, I'm not up to date with the situation at 14 BLC, but I know they wasted a lot of the insurance money restoring 14 BLC, then moving in all the smoke-damaged crap from the old house, including wet laundry that had never been dried. (This is how "The Classic" got in an atrocious state), plus rumors of sending Chris to collect more crap for Barb. It has now been three and a half years since they moved in, so it's probably full of crap again.Actually 14 BC is the cleanest it's been in the past 10 years.. While I feel for Chris and hope Sorbet comes back to him, I think any responsible vet would have recommended that a cat in Sorbet’s condition following the car accident be indoor-only. I’m not saying Chris is some abusive pet owner but allowing a cat with very poor health and poor sight be an outdoor cat seems a little irresponsible to me.
Sorbet did not have poor health. Poor sight maybe, although that's less of a risk in Ruckersvill
My argument is that it's less "Chris' fault" and more "Americans simply don't do this".I completely agree with you on not allowing injured or cats who have been injured, healed or not, outside. They may not be able to see or even run away correctly if another animal/person happens to sneak up on them. Half of this is chris's fault, and the other is the vet that he took sorbet to. If the vet was responsible, then he/she would've mentioned the above to Chris, or hell, maybe would've considered euthinasia, but that's in the past now, and the only thing we can hope is that wherever sorbet is, he's happy.
Let me clarify. I don't mean to claim a negative. I'm not claiming "I know for a fact Sorbet doesn't have health issues".Sorry, I disagree with you on sorbet not having health issues. The only way you could know if he doesn't is if you've seen the x-rays, chart, and you're the vet who treated him. We know for certain that sorbet was hit by a car, we also know that his sight is fucked and he has a bad leg alongside respritory issues. What we don't know is the extent of the damage the car that hit him did, and we don't know if he had anything like FIV or feline leukemia before Chris "adopted" him.
I had neighbors whose cat disappeared and we figured it had been killed by a dog (it's a real problem in some areas, especially where there are dog fights). A year later he showed back up at their door begging for food as if nothing happened!Reminds me of that Simpson's episode where Lisa's pet cat went missing and ended up with some neighbours.
Cats who go missing for days or weeks do end up coming back to their owners. Despite the way Sorbet looks with his screwed up eye, cats can do well with certain injuries. Some cats will hunt and others would just scrape around for free scraps from people or what they can find.
I once had a cat that ended up missing for a week. He came back, wanting food.
