I feel a great deal of sympathy for the LGBTQ community at UVA and in Virginia in general: Of all the people that could be interviewed they end up with Chris representing them in front of a TV audience.

The crew's attention was drawn to the goofiest person there. The fact we're all here shows that Chris draws far more attention than the average person.

Of some interest, the station that covered this event also did Chris's "Sonic Watch & Win" sweepstakes 23 years earlier. Of course I'm sure nobody at that station at present knows that anyway but it's something to think about when comparing these two moments.
