I have no doubt in my mind that this will be the fate of these people, but it's not as perfect as it honestly could be.

An official death penalty and a state willing to actually go through with the execution would be such a great chilling effect. Someone getting into this mess, or already in it for that matter, will have to bear the burden on their consciousness that people can, do, and will get executed for this behavior.

I think this would be especially effective if images of the corpse were released, just to make this more real, as a reminder to these people: "This will be you if you continue down this path".

I wonder if the State of North Carolina, a state known to have a death penalty, will be filing its own charges on the matter. The Supreme Court does permit this after all. Maybe they can do what the fed can't.

Rupnow wasn't directly affiliated with SF to my knowledge, but she was basically their next door neighbor via Nitrrogen and a few of the Twitter accounts she was following. I did a more in-depth post about her connections to 764 in the spoiler in this post.
