it says he has a court date Dec. 5th tho...So Y does one go to court if one hasn't been charged?

The process for this would be - arrest, released on promise to appear (when he was given a court date he must show up for), when he goes for that first appearance the Crown will decide whether to pursue a trial, or give some other summary judgement, or let him bounce.

But a court date! I might have to develop a cough that day...

Question...does Canada have felonies & misdemeanors separate like the US? & if so, what would a taser charge be filed as?

WOOOO IM FINALLY HERE WHEN SHIT IS GOING DOWN!

I predict he will try to find a way to sue the government because of this, maybe with the help of some outrage-ambulance chasing lawyer type, and will almost certainly be screeching on every social media outlet and clickbait interview that he is "in danger from violent cyber nazis who are coming to rape and murder him" as his justification for needing weapons

What sort of punishment are we looking at here? Jail time?
Let's be fucking real, it'll be a slightly sterner version of pic related

I don't understand Canadian law I guess...the same story says he hasn't been charged

"“The investigation is ongoing,” said Largy, and charges have not been laid. It is up to the B.C. Prosecution Service to decide whether or not to lay criminal charges."

So again...Y does one have to go to court if they haven't been charged?

I unironically hope he wins because there's a clause or two in the charter that hints at a right to bear arms but no judge has had the balls to interpret it that way yet
Oh god can yall imagine if Yaniv winds up accidentally making guns legal in Leaf Land?

I know it wont fuckin happen but maybe his passionate defence of being under attack from terrifying gamergate nazi terrorists strikes a chord with some tranny judge and this results in them interpreting the law in a way that effectively legalises weapons again....god that might actually challenge November 9th 2016 in terms of raw mad glorious fuckery

What's the deal in canada about politely/respectfully sending the judge/DA video footage of him wailing on the old guy with the cane a few days later? The judge and DA, are they considered public figures approachable by phone or e-mail? I really feel they should be made aware of the cane attack video before the stun gun/pepper-spray court hearing. It shows personal demeanor and intent.

...slowly starting to fall apart one criminal charge at a time, hopefully by the time they charge him with CP/pedo activities the judge will consider prior arrests and charges and give him a real sentence.

If Yaniv will get at least 3 months in jail, I will consider Canada forever uncucked, despite Trudeau.

If Yaniv will get indicted and will receive at least a year (maximum of 10 per CCC), I will cover myself in poutine and will sing Oh, Canada for an hour straight at the top of my lungs

Sadly im guessing its gonna be a "3 months suspended" deal, especially if Yaniv triples down on the "IM AN OPPRESSED VICTIM OF OPPRESSIVE OPPRESSION!!!" theatrics since Canuck authorities seem pathologically terrified of coming down hard against anybody who paints themselves an inherent victim demographic

Also whats the smart money on him starting a brand new set of lawsuits and threats should he not be sent to a women's prison and thus being denied terrified female prisoner coochie?

It looks like the paper was combining an older article with a newer one. The quote about investigations still ongoing matches a quote from the RCMP the day after the search warrant.

The new part that discusses charges is here:
"She also said she has already been told to appear in Surrey Provincial Court on Dec. 5 on charges of possession of a prohibited weapon."
