I think someone has said it elsewhere, but psychopaths usually aren't very smart. I know of one who used to literally order books on how to have "panache" and how to appear normal. If you met him in public you'd think he had everything together and was a chill and intelligent intellectual with a high vocabulary and an impressive amount of degrees. However in private he had the emotional AND booksmart intelligence of a 15 year old, and would just drain away his family's generational wealth into going to college more because it was his favorite place to shmooze and use his memorized "pretending to be normal but secretly a special genius" act. If someone went of script from anything he had a memorized "smart person" response, it would blow his fucking mind causing retarded or bizarre evasive and passive aggressive bitchy behavior.
