I've said this before, but these sorts of people belong to a "Christianity of aesthetics". They love the iconography of Christianity (especially the Crusader States era or the Great Rebirth), but aren't interested in actually cultivating virtue and a relationship with Christ, or even understanding the basic points of theology. At most, they like the negative aspects of Christianity (don't masturbate, don't be homosexual, don't worship false idols), and have little to no interest in the positive aspects (do love your neighbor, do give to the poor, do be humble). So instead, they dress up what they already believe in Christian trappings and follow that, instead, while decrying everyone who disagrees as not being "real Christians".
