8chan's /christian/ - Alt-right Christians

A lot of the reasons why these people turned to religion in the first place was vanity and contempt for others. It was more so a reaction to other people around them straying from what they see as "traditional values" which is why they focus so heavily on iconography like religious symbols and paintings. Because they pine for a society that they think was stronger and better solely because it was more religious.

Ironically despite this board having a deep hatred for muslims. (another reason why I think the board exploded in popularity in recent years is due to muslim migrants/converts/ISIS). Muslim converts actually join Islam for the same reasons. They want to stop what they see as "degeneracy" and think people need to follow their rules. And want to be around people with the same opinions. And hate the same people and read a lot of the same stories from their holy book. (Since Jesus is in the Quran under a different name).
I've always held that these sorts of pseudo-Christian radicals would fit in far better in Islam.

I have a bit of experience with this board. What's always seemed funny to me is that most christians in real life, when they come across another sect, aren't as militant as they are online.
Maybe if people would understand that Christianity IS advocating tolerance of others in the first place, this board wouldn't be a trash fire. But the Bible has become so open to interpretation, none of them are ever going to really get it.

I've said this before, but these sorts of people belong to a "Christianity of aesthetics". They love the iconography of Christianity (especially the Crusader States era or the Great Rebirth), but aren't interested in actually cultivating virtue and a relationship with Christ, or even understanding the basic points of theology. At most, they like the negative aspects of Christianity (don't masturbate, don't be homosexual, don't worship false idols), and have little to no interest in the positive aspects (do love your neighbor, do give to the poor, do be humble). So instead, they dress up what they already believe in Christian trappings and follow that, instead, while decrying everyone who disagrees as not being "real Christians".
I wonder if they realize this is the exactly how the SJWs they probably think are degenerates who are going to burn in hell behave. They have no interest in the teachings of Christianity, they're just miserable assholes who want to drag everyone down to their level of misery by insisting people should die for not being Christian enough. Same strokes, different folks. Their list of morally disproved behaviors they believe people who do are subhuman so they feel superior in comparison just so happens to be from the Bible.

WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER. The anon's on /8chan/ fail to see that Christianity is about as much about self-restraint and denial of (immediate) self-gratification as it is about becoming a better person by helping others in their time of need and loving them even if what they are doing is wrong. They forget about saints like Saint Monica, who despite the fact that her son Saint Augustine of Hippo was ostensibly a degenerate fedora tipper (at the time) who had a child out of wedlock and pagan husband was pretty much cheating on her with other women and doing so openly, prayed that they turned from their evil ways and find the Light of God. Unfortunately, her husband didn't but her son did (to the point that he's a saint). Sorta a similar deal with Saint Edith Stein, who was an atheist turned Catholic nun who died in the Holocaust, although this was more of a personal struggle than an external one. They conflate people with their sins and say they are irredeemable, even though God's grace is infinite. They basically like wearing the title of being a Christian without actually practicing (or at the very least attempting to practice, because all the angels and saints know that noone is perfect) it. I really really hate this attitude and feel bad for people that actually have it IRL. I'm sorry for the Catholic powerleveling but this type of shit is so annoying it hurts

It makes me wonder why they approved of the board to begin with.

Apparently, Atheists all had no father or an ineffectual father.

This is somewhat common outside of /christian/. When Christopher Hitchens's father was on his deathbed a Christian man named "Larry Alex Taunton" ridiculed his father for being "weak" because he didn't "discipline his chidren" which "led to his atheism". It's a really tasteless tactic that requires very little evidence. Since even if you point out Sigmund Freud was Jewish and had a stable relationship with his father they can just dismiss all of that.

Like I said earlier in this thread such beliefs have more to do with vanity and a need to judge others when the parts of the Bible they pay attention to advocate not doing that.
