I had no idea what he was talking about, because true sand fleas are small edible crustaceans that eat seaweed. Lots of creatures are known colloquially as 'sand fleas,' but none that I'm aware of are typically able to thrive indoors. Does Tom have air conditioning, or would he rather spend that money on pot and trash rocks? Air conditioning alone is usually enough to drive away chigoes, which are sometimes called sand fleas.

At any rate, I can't wrap my mind around the urge to bathe less in the middle of a parasite infestation. It seems like the reaction of a bizarro human.
