A commercial that has been burned into your memory

Circa 1986 Colgate Pump commercial set roughly to the tune of Madness's 1980 ska hit "Baggy Trousers".

What's especially interesting about this commercial was that it was shot on a soundstage in Britain for American television but they also shot a British commercial with the same sets and kids but mostly different shots (though not promoting the Pump dispenser) and the British version sticks more closely to the structure of the original Madness song.

Here's the Madness song for comparison.

My brother and I were just talking about a sears commercial from our childhood that we still think about to this day .

Setting a small kitchen - a woman aged 25 - 35 is wearing a tank top and her brown hair is pulled back. She is sweating and ineffectively fanning herself with paper. She is distressed She sits at a table across from a man also between 25-35. He is reading a newspaper. His face is sweaty but he seems relaxed.

The air conditioner is broken.

The woman says that the man told her that he would call Sears but he has not yet called Sears She asks when he will call with panic in her voice .The man tells her that he will call today in a casual relaxed manner. The woman shrieks in response ."YOU'LL CALL NOW" She pulls the newspaper away from him preventing him ftom reading it . He smiles and says cheerfully ."I'll call now"

We see the couple again in the kitchen after some time had passed .The woman is wearing a denim full sleeve shirt .Her hair is down. She is smiling. The man is again reading the paper .The woman asks him what the weather is like. He says "another scorcher" and she grins and says "cool!"

So Sears fixed the air conditioner after the husband called (even though he didn't care if the air conditioner was fixed) because his wife yelled at / annoyed him until he did .

The question that has haunted my brother and for 25 years is - Why didn't the woman call Sears herself???? Why????

There was another parody years ago that I found that was even worse, but I can't find it now.

I can't seem to find it but my parents had a VHS from the 90's of taped Simpsons episodes that had this commercial of some basketball player dressed in drag with "Brick House" playing in the background.
EDIT: Found it!

These were pretty memorable being a teenager when they aired. Also this one seems to co-star skinny Mike Stoklasa.
That's the dude who played Buster Bluth on Arrested Development.

Weirdly I can’t find the exact commercial. It was from the mid 90’s for Shake and Bake, and had a little girl inserted in the modern commercial in black and white saying “It’s Shake and Bake, and I halped”. For so e reason the way it was said was hilarious to pretty much everybody in my age group and we used to say the catchphrase for shits and giggles a lot.

Edit:
I also wanted a Craftmatic Adjustable bed when I was three for some reason. My parents still laugh about it.

A circa 1991 commercial from Canadian television I've never been able to find on the Internet: it's for Extra gum set in a laundromat with a guy doing laundry offering gum to Canadian model Maura Peters while "And I think it's going to be a long, long time" from Elton John's "Rocket Man" (probably a cover version) repeats in the background.

This Swiffer commercial from 2000 with the singing soldiers is still my favourite Swiffer ad by a long shot.

I don't know about you, but these ads were the highlight of the commercial break. Pretty damn catchy too.

Fun fact: the "singer" in the FreeCreditReport.com commercials is actually a Francophone from Quebec named Eric Violette who they chose for his face only and not his English-language singing ability so they had to "Milli Vanelli" it by having the actor move his lips and then they dubbed in an English-language singer in post.

They generally did a good job hiding that the ads were actually shot in Montreal though the amusement park is obviously (Six Flags) La Ronde.

Another memorable one from my childhood.
Whenever I think of that commercial, I fondly remember eating those NickToons Fruit Rolls-Up and my father helping me cut the characters out with a toothpick.
