A conversation with a US Senator

If I ever got to talk to a powerful person (who would actually listen). If they were extremely powerful like on the level of controlling a nationstate I'd tell them to start an Apollo program for nanotechnology. Particularly the development and standardization of a general purpose nanobot. Theres no particular reason to think its unachievable. And once you achieve it. You've basically invented magic.

If they were very powerful. On the level of controlling hundreds of billions I'd ask them to through a couple 10s- a couple billion into the development and standardization of the technology for a general purpose microfluidics device. We are extremely close to developing one. Theres just a few technological hurdles and a lack of awareness between us and a chemical factory/research lab that can sit on a desktop.

If they were a smaller time billionaire I'd ask them to spend a couple billion on a large scale longitudinal genomewide study on aging. All the technology is already there and possible. Again its just lack of awareness/ignorance that prevents the expenditure of a relative pittance for potentially unfathomable returns.

If they were somewhat poorer. Like down to a very rich multimillionaire I'd ask for the same thing. Except in mice.

A Space Elevator would be nice. We are very close to the tech needed, and any nation that builds one could not only take full control of Earth's orbital space but also acquire almost perfect control over the entire Solar System due to how cheap it would make space travel and cargo.

It would pay for itself in something like 10 years.

In a few days I will be in a unique position to have a near 1v1 conversation with a US senator. I would like to speak up about payment processing and other financial concerns that Josh Moon and others have spoken about. Jokes aside, what are some good talking points to give to a Senator? I would also enjoy links of talking points on and off this site. Thank you for your time.
"De-banked" is the term to search.
Debanking. Please.
If the senator is from a weed-friendly state, you can use Bess Byers as an example.

She currently works for ReasonTV and got dropped by her bank because she previously worked for a weed store. What's extra-suspicious about the situation was that it seemed retaliatory, as she was also the reporter for this story a while back:

Like Null said, bring up OCC-2020-0042. It was already "ready to go" and paused by the Biden administration. All the current policians would need to do is start it back up.

So, this will be my Elevator pitch : " Senator I believe the major issue we have in our nation is payment processing and the people who control it. Visa and Mastercard are capable of being discriminate of who they do business with. (wait for response). Well OCC-2020-0042 can be the means to resolve this. ( https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/11/25/2020-26067/fair-access-to-financial-services ) . (response) no, Actually it has been paused by Biden and could be un-paused by Trump. I do not understand why he would not ."

I would enjoy ideas on how to say : " you're going to get some political points", Just in a more professional or subtle manner.

Why not asking about some alliances with other nations? With all the things USA is doing lately, maybe is a good topic? Or well, i don't know if geopolitic is good to talk innthe first place.

No. God, please, no. The Boomers and Xers don't need to be allowed to diamond hands political power for 60 more years.

Tell them that no political theory or policy matters if you can't organize to advocate for it. The greatest long-term threats The People face is anything that stops them from organizing. There are specific chokepoints in the public arena, where the government and large private entities conspire to choke off effective organizing: They are:

  1. Money--the ability to collect and transfer it.
    • debanking, financial blacklists, payment processors
  2. Freedom of Association--agencies and NGOs who decide who can associate together
    • IRS denying non-profit status, SPLC designating hate groups, SPLC/ADL designations being adopted uncritically by Wikipedia or other platforms, etc
  3. Surveillance--spying on organizations and subverting or breaking them up
    • FBI/NSA domestic spying, NGOs doxing group members, mainstream media amplifying NGO reports to discredit leaders
  4. Information gatekeeping--the "information superhighway" is now highly restricted
    • Big Tech determining what gets boosted, with biased humans able to influence it; Google's "trusted sources" boosting of search relevance; Europe's "misinformation" watchdogs and censorship
I kept this a bit vague, because I don't know the party or politics of your Senator. But both sides have favored groups and wings of activists that have been hit by these attacks. If you want them to care, you have to show them how their own side has supporters being choked out of relevance by these forces.
