A MeToo makeover for James Bond - "It’s young, it’s fun and it is all about female empowerment"

You had Modesty Blaise to play with, a foxy lady from the middle east who, just as Bond, used her charm, wits, sexyness to be a master spy. Millions of arcs already there through the comics. But noooooooo you want THAT toy (points at Bond) to put mommas make up on.

Didn't Tarantino try to make a Modesty Blaise movie and wasn't there actually a cheap direct to video one made in 2004 solely to keep the rights?

There is one from 1966. But movie rights can always be bought, wonder why they did it as a spoof though. my Dad has subscribed the magazine since the 70's and still going (!)

EDIT: you are right, several films have been made, doesn't change the fact there is an female spy IP out already for the feminazis to toy around with.

The 2004 one I mentioned is real as well. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0347591/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_2

They wanted to give Jynx from die another day her own spin-off movie. Only problem is die another die flopped so hard it put the bond films on hiatus...again. Still early 2000s Hallie Berry as an NSA spy? Yeah I can kinda see it.

Also can we please stop unironically saying a "metoo" makeover or an X for the "metoo" era? The me too movement Should by all accounts be deader than a flaccid tranny dick.

I suspect that if the movie was made from the ground up as the most #hashtagWOKE trashfire possible by the standards of 2016-2017 then they aint got much choice but to desperately try and push the METOO angle because they aint got much else to get good press for the movie given how all the buzzwords and references are likely years out of date and more discredited than a Jeffrey Epstein daycare centre

Seriously....if they actually have the rumoured "mrs bond loudly declares she is on her period" scene the writer was acting all smug about a while back then this is going to easily eclipse ghostbusters 2016 in terms of raw cringe

Like I said, it's about taking something away from men, not having a decent character of their own.

Maybe not. At least they've been able to cobble together a decent trailer out of this trash fire.

Billie Eilish song confirmed.

Looks like sucking the right dicks still flies in this '#MeToo' Bond.

She's not bad...but it feels like maybe they are just trying to appeal to the younger demographics with this.
Also does anyone care about this movie yet?

Oh they really are. Eilish doesn't really have the right sound in my opinion.

I've started to care since the trailer, this news is making it hard to care more though.

Yeah, the trailer is pretty garbage...

I think it was the gattling guns shooting out of the Aston Martin...

I thought the Craig movies were to be a bit more grounded. But, the franchise has seemed rudderless since Spectre....

Craig should have left after Skyfall...

It seems that the current folks in charge of Bond don't know what to do with the series with Daniel Craig they seem to get a miss after every hit and can't seem to make something that doesn't fall apart. Though I honestly bet this film has a likely chance to flop and this will be another freeze on the Bond series till we can get someone else to make one that is either a more return to more classic movie bond, or one that will better embrace the more ruthless nature of Bond in the books.

Wasn't that in Skyfall?
I remember the Aston Martin being in it(towards the end), but I don't remember the gattling guns. To be fair, it's been awhile since I saw it...

I think there was a quip about the ejector seat to M...

I don't have a problem with 'comic book Bond'. But, I thought Craig's stuff was trying to be more plausible/gritty. I prefer tonal consistency within Bond iterations..

I hate using the word 'realistic' because James Bond can never be such a thing...

Nor was it ever envisioned as such...

The Craig movies were supposed to be leading up to the Bond we had come to know. At least that was my understanding. So Casino Royal he's not very quippy and also a bit more raw. As the movies progress he becomes more hardened, more callously psychotic to start making jokes as he kills someone, etc. Ditto gadgets going from small scale stuff in the first one and increasing with the new Q. and further gadgets. It was supposed to be a bit like what they did with the Marvel movies where they don't start off with flying androids and dimensional invasions but with Tony Stark, in a cave, building the first iron man suit. Grounded but building on it was the idea. So we're probably about the right time for an Aston Martin with gatling guns.

Trailer seemed not bad to me. I didn't enjoy Spectre - I thought it was too dark and sadistic with the torture scene and other parts. I do not like what I have read about the new Bond being woke. But the trailer was alright except for the woman saying she'd shoot Bond in his knee. The Bond I know wouldn't take that shit off someone. Let alone from someone who I presume is supposed to be a colleague. It doesn't make her seem tough, which I'm sure the writer or director thought, as much as it makes her sound anti-social, vaguely psychotic and insecure. I mean, Bond pretty much saved Western democracy twice now, hasn't he? But sure: "stay in your lane".

Spectre sucked, and Quantum of Solace is the most forgettable Bond movie ever. Skyfall was pretty dang good (even if it was too long), and Casino Royale is a goddamn James Bond masterpiece.

This new trailer looked awful. Looks like they are re-treading the other Daniel Craig Bond movies while adding a "woke" spin to it. YAWN.

Daniel Craig looks just about as over it as everyone else feels.

And Billy Eillish is doing the next Bond theme? Ick. Can't wait to hear what kind of try-hard "quirky" concoction she shits out for the theme. Remember Adele's "Skyfall" theme and how amazing it was? Good times.
