To be fair, almost every transwoman/transtrender discussed here lives in appalling poverty, so it's not like CON was exploiting a temporary or unique set of circumstances. Transfolk, especially transwomen, are so disorganized and mentally ill that those in their number who live well are the exception that proves the rule.

Part of it is because they feel they should get paid for their activism while doing little else, like holding a day job, but there's also the notion that no sane organization or business wants to have anything to do with people who stage psychodramas online every few hours. But the fact is that anyone who thought CON would pay them anything close to minimum wage for promoting them is likely poverty-level for being stupid - gathering cans on the side of the highway is and always will be more lucrative than engaging in political and social grunt-work. It's hard to hold this example of bad faith against CON because any fool should have been able to parse out what would happen if they accepted the promise of unspecified monetary compensation at some point in the future for work already performed.

Until they get salty enough to share specific details - which I hope happens when they read Zoe's book - I'm not even sure what they're complaining about. What exactly did they do apart from making a ton of social media posts about Zoe/Gamergate?

CON's been little more than a static page since its inception. It sounds like they expected Zoe and Randi would personally fight their battles for them and are pissed off that Zoe hasn't made the big bad trolls go away. Zoe's book has sold a few hundred pre-orders. She hasn't exactly "made it", but they're acting like she's some superstar who has "forgotten her roots" and "left the little people behind".

Right. But really, do we really need a term for people who don't like guys in dresses invading women's spaces and demanding special rights? I think the word people are searching for is "normal".
