Yeah, this is some fine idiocy here. Doctors aren't the fucking Trans Life Line. If you behave in a manner that indicates to a medical professional that you may be a danger to yourself, those professionals have a legal and moral responsibility to react appropriately to ensure you don't hurt yourself or anyone else. What the fuck did she think was going to happen when she asked her doctor about euthanasia methods? That he'd recommend she read Final Exit, or that they'd jive about Kevorkian for a while?

Unless she's too stupid or delusional to be functioning on her own, this all had to be a drama grab. This was a deliberate goading of a doctor in the hopes that doctor would issue a 72 hour hold. There is no way a person with a history of mental illness could think this would have gone any other way. Being sent to the loony bin during the holiday season is sure to get attention.

The reality is that his own doctor was just covering his ass by sending him for assessment.

I think the thought process is more like, "I went to the doctor and told them I wanted to die, and then they oppressed me by taking my suicidal ideation seriously, but then I outsmarted them by telling them j/k."
