As many already know, multiplayer games don't exist forever, and many games from the past have been closed down, however, there exists a small subsection that still exists and is playable, but the player count in it is extremely minimal. A YouTuber, Globert, has decided to visit one of those games, and in the process, he uncovered an extremely obscure community of very old people who are extremely attached to their favourite game of the past and completely refuse to let go (I highly recommend you to watch the video cause it's really heartwarming but also kind of tragic)

The game in question is There.com. A 3d virtual world that was closed in 2001 but was restored in 2012, it is functions in a similar way as Second Life, you can meet people and make friends here. The last part is a big reason why the community stuck together, they knew these people for literally years, in the video players talk in detail about how they make life-long friendships in this game, and how sad they were when some people they knew completely disappeared (:_(

Reminds me of a tiny Minecraft server I used to play over a decade ago. It had about 50 total active players and everybody knew everybody. It was nice to see what other players were up to and have players to show off your work to in turn, it had grief protection so you didn't have to worry about hiding coordinates. I made some great friends on there and was sad when they all slowly left and the server shut down.

Monster Hunter. Should have made a game that looked and performed better than something from the ps3.

but its still rly fun

Everquest Online Adventures (2003-2012) has had the servers reverse engineered, and a lot of the players still remember their old associations.

That's a fun topic. I wonder what games fall into this category but are still running on official servers.
