So here's the question that's been lingering in my mind. What poor bastard is going to end up stuck as Chris's defense attorney? Do we have any idea who the prosecutor will be? Both are going to have to dive into a meticulously documented well of insanity spanning decades and absorb that information to build their cases in a mere few weeks/months. It's like the equivalent of receiving a life time's worth of radiation in the span of a few minutes.

My assumption is that Chris will be obliged to take on the services of a public defender, or even potentially represent himself. So who are the possible state appointed attorneys that may represent both prosecution and defense? What are the odds of Chris being coherent enough to attempt to represent himself?

Unless Chris gets a tugboat to hire a lawyer or the troons crowdfund him one, he'll probably be stuck with a public defender.
But would that even fucking matter at this point?

Its really just an open and shut case, it doesnt matter if you got the best goddamn lawyer, in the world, Chris is guilty. The only difference that could be made is the sentencing.

They may try and get Chris marked as insane or just straight up say that Chris is guilty and concious in the act to get a less worse sentence.

Null was talking on taking some classes to be able to represent himself in court. Maybe he should take some accelerated course to be able to defend Chris.
I can't think of anything Null would want to do less.

Public defender who'll tell Chris to plead guilty to get the charges down.

Afterwards the judge, the prosecutor, the public defender, court reporters and clerks as well as everyone involved in the administrative mess in this case need to check in with the local psychiatrist association and their health insurance to get shrink sessions.

But what if... WHAT IF he did try to represent himself? I don't think it's implausible, he's fully fucking delusional by now. To the point where I could actually envision a scenario where he thinks that's a good idea. They technically couldn't tell him no, it is his legal right.

Where's the option where Phoenix Wright does a dimensional merge into Chris' body to represent him?
Updated.

Then it will be an astonishing and wonderful clusterfuck as Chris tries to imitate lawyers based on knowledge from animu, ass attorney and TV. Problem is, no deus ex machina will magically appear and he's off to the slammer.
A PD could at least try to get a psychic evaluation and try to smooth things out, they're used to hopeless cases and trying to get a better sentence.

It's not an open and shut case. Barb and Chris have always been too close for family members and how it evolved into incest we don't know. Barb or Chris could have initiated it. Barbs mental state and Chris's mental states are both questionable, and now we have third parties either egging them on or accidentally discovering it.

My thoughts exactly, a large part of this case is actually us. I wonder how much blame the defense will try to assign (probably rightfully) to provocateur's on the internet. Will Chris's implosion take Kiwi in it's wake?

If third parties really did egg Chris on, would 'retarded teenagers told me to do it' count as a valid legal defense?

(Actually it does. "Render unto Caesar...")

Dang. Late. Anyway...
A public defender is the only way he can go, and they often have a bad rap as being incompetent, but most are passionate about what they do and are genuine in their effort. However, they also know when the case is hopeless, and when to cash in their chips and try for a plea deal.
The best Chris can hope for is a mental evaluation and some time in an institution... Probably about a year. That's likely the strategy his attorney will employ, bargain and try for the lightest sentence.
