Still in awe over how insanely lazy this one was, they coulda done so much more in the writing department.

I've come to the conclusion that the MP as it is currently is irredeemable dogshit and will be dead in a month.
Yeah it sucks too because this really does feel like the best combat has been.

The missions are too short and the format sucks. Sorties and scrambles are too rare.
It's almost there. They need to rip the GBO2 matchmaking mechanic with rotating cost lobbies so it's not just super planes all the way down and they need to add some in-game balancing regarding the aircraft roles. Attackers are mega cucked because they just get BTFO by multiroles and EW doesn't get points for using their EW so you're better off just picking something that lets you blow shit up easier.

Mission 15 is NIGGERCENTRAL
15 is a 4AAM check, that's all. I got really close with normal weapons but just couldn't do it. I'm sure it's possible, though.
The game is just... okay. At least for what you'd expect. Some hits, some misses, and a lot of questionable in-betweens. I'm only 2/3rds of the way through, there's time for me to change my mind.

It's a bit disappointing that Aces At War completely omits the Usean rebellion and the other side-games. The page for the Falken doesn't even mention it, or how it might have been using Pixy's combat data.

The first page of the Lighthouse War's entry refers to the 'Erusea Republic' under the list of participants, yet the rest of the text is correct with the Kingdom. What a strange oversight.

The scramble gamemode really needs some reworking, fighting 8 random planes is retarded, it needs to be squadrons

i don't know if it's autism or because i worked as a technical writer for so long that i am psychotically obsessive about the accuracy of words and language, but when i see typos or subtitles that don't match up to spoken dialogue 1:1 it seriously distracts me. it may appear mild to others, but it's a bad sign because it's the most basic and fundamental QA and when it's missed that raises questions about the rest of the product. it sticks like a thorn in that part of your back you can't reach when you get older.

and Ace Combat 8 has that Tasha has a line in the campaign, don't remember exactly where, but her spoken dialogue is completely different from what is shown in subtitles. some of the character cards used in radio calls have gibberish engrish text, for example the Shilage planes that show up during the fight with the second Land Battleship around the Ligthouse, it reads "Sirage".

Is there even lore as to why the enemy has all of these superweapons cause in Infinity it's because the USEAn Federation has all of these advanced manufacturing plants from Wernher and Noah or are they just faceless mooks?

Faceless Mooks. I havent even seen an emergency scramble (the super bosses) yet.

I'm convinced some features aren't live yet, since there's a 'Difficulty 1' tag on Scrambles and zero variety to them (just the 8 npc ace one).

Its fun, just not sure it has staying power to run short score chasing missions on loop.

Now if memory serves me correctly there was an FCU buried in some lore but it wasn't nearly as big as it is in 8. I suppose that would give some excuse for all the talk about patriotism in the game and "reclaiming the homeland". Otherwise it makes no sense for a nation that's at most existed 8 years.

Also the first person view sucks, and the game randomly throws white text on black backgrounds. This game might have the worst presentation in the series. Gameplays good, although they hand out S ranks like candy even on Hard.

And the operations are especially nonsensical. Example, why does it take so much effort to cross the orbital weapon barrier one way and not the way back??? Why didn't Sotoa just reposition the tonrious and nuke the northern base after they occupied everything? Why is the FCU's first major counteroffensive a NAVAL LANDING??? Naval landings are arguably the most difficult operations for the attacking side!
Apologizes about the double post but turns out Coster is gay
Don't you see? Bamco made sure no one can get between you and the BPD dangerhair foreign mercenary. :smug:

That stage where the land battleship fucks up the operation to take back Theve is so intense. The smoke and particle effects were wild. I couldn't see shit. Which is a compliment.

Finished the campaign, I think it was better than 7, but had some let downs near the end. The ending in particular I thought was very underwhelming. Shooting, sound design, and everything else about the gameplay was great. But the story started getting tired out in the back third.

Worst Mission: The fly under the radar mission about halfway through.
Best Mission: The big air battle at the island.

Do you ever shoot down Shadow 22? On the last few air to air missions I only remember shooting down the Shadow 24(?) flight and there was never a call out that I shot down the big bad mustache guy.

What a let down honestly. They seem to have tried to do another submersible battleship like the AC7 DLC mission, but there was never any real danger. The previous missions had more missiles and chance of failing, the only damage I took was from flying through the swarm drones. It was basically a 30 minute cut scene with some missiles to slowly intercept.

I'm also surprised we didn't get a super ultra land battleship, I think it would have made more sense after the whole spiel from D.D. that Enso studied the first one you killed in Theve. Maybe they could have built one with some sort of automated factory magic sci fi bs.

I'm surprised that Tasha never died in the campaign as well, I was always fully expecting Shadow 22 to slowly pick off your wingmen one by one in the later missions until a final showdown, but that never came.

A little salty that they didn't give the Su34 the SFFS again but at least the devs were kind enough to give it UGBLs instead
Faith Park and the Expo City missions gave a goated plane stuck in shitty conditions IRL somewhere to shine.

Anyway what's everyone's favorite planes to use so far? I'm a Fullback enjoyer so that's a shoe in for me. Worst is tied between the A-6 and Mig31. Fucking hate using both of those things and somehow the A-6 is more maneuverable than the 31.

I learned that while expecting my game to come tomorrow that all the stuff BUT THE ACTUAL GAME is coming tomorrow. I fucking hate Bamco USA and I wish multiple June 6 1995s upon your US division. How fucking retarded do you have to be to not fucking email a code instead of making 2 different shipments? What an incredible birthday gift I have gifted to myself!

One of the Shadows is named Mehmet which is derived from Muhammad which means that Islam is canon to Ace Combat

Does it at least reference or explain the Sotoan-Yuktobanian War?

Alright finally beat the campaign. It's a big gay melodramatic story, so pretty on-par for Ace Combat. I'm glad there was some large scale missions at the tail end because after the mission where you blow up the solar panels (7 I think?) the scale seems to get cut back quite a bit.

The multiple shadow squadrons weren't nearly as cool as all the different squadrons in AC:0. The Shadow 22 fight was infuriating. Played the game going the Russian jet route ending with the SU-57.

Overall solid. Still not better than the PS2 games. Probably better than 7...idk haven't played that in while. Would have liked more "blow a bunch of shit up" missions.
