Its a weird story. Comcast is a sleazy cable company headquartered in Philadelphia. In the mid-1990s, they used their cable money to buy into Philly sports. They bought the hockey team and the NBA team. They formed a sports sub-company around that stuff. When the sleazy original owner of the sports stuff died, they gave it to the longtime comcast CFO as a plaything.

They own sports teams and maybe 50 or more arenas. They got into overwatch and esports. They wanted to promote and build-up e-sports. They took a look around the stuff they owned and found G4. Because they were stupid, they thought that video games & nerd culture was the same thing as e-sports. They just wanted to use the shell of the old G4 to build something new that would promote e-sports.

They realized that youtube and twitch had made a gaming cable channel obsolete. So their plan was to make content as if it were cable channel, but distribute that content everywhere. The reason they made Frosk a part of G4 was her associations with e-sports.

But Sessler and the other people they hired thought that the return of G4 was their moment of validation and personal redemption. G4 wasn't coming back to promote e-sports. It was coming back because in their minds the old G4 was this natural treasure that should never have been shut down. And they were coming back with no compromises this time. The audience was also confused. The young audience they wanted didn't know what G4 was. The old Audience they got expected a video games channel.

Then it got worse. Since he was fired from the old G4, Sessler had become even more of a political fanatic. The coke seemed to have made him super-paranoid as well. He seems to see the world as full of undermench who need to be either shot or sent off to death camps. So Sessler used the platform G4 had given him to launch his personal war on everything. Frosk was a true believer in Fuhrer Sessler and his vision. She proclaimed his message to the world. But there were few takers. The G4 brand became completely toxic and everything G4 tried to do immediately failed. They were effectively done within a few months though it took longer for it to shut down.

The whole idea of bringing back G4 was bad and should never have happened. Bringing back Sessler was an even worse decision. Sessler disagrees. He seethes in his San Francisco bunker awaiting "Der Tag" when the promised fifth G4 Reich will arise.

Theoryhead was a consulting company built around him. I don't remember if it ever went anywhere. Spiketrap was using him as a sort of a celebrity greeter. He didn't really start up Spiketrap. He was involved early on, but he has no particular skills in software or AI. He was there because his name was known in the bay area.

It sucks that he have and have always had a bunch of non-gamers talking about games all this time. That's probably why the gaming scene is slowly turning into a charade with microtransactions and NFTs and whatnot.

I read about his history today. Got his 'start' in cable access TV. Makes sense he saw it as a springboard to 'work his craft'.

Why do you think he went full anti-life herald and hooked up with Zoe Quinn?

Adam's a failed stand-up comic who lucked into a job that could have opened major doors for him but his psychopathy and drug addiction problems fucked him up. Adding to that, when he left X-Play, he no longer had Morgan to do the heavy lifting and worse, was an "old man" in an industry that was skewering younger and instituting the sort of purity spiral mandates that fed into Adam's psychopathic tendencies while feeding his drug addiction problems.

Adam has been a failure since he was told to fuck off by G4 management over decade ago. I would not be shocked if a LOT of doors were closed to him when he got forced off of X-Play due to his asshole behavior and addiction issues, hence why anti-life herald and minion to Zoe Quinn was so appealing, as far as a way to keep going and stay famous.

He didn't fuck Zoe but he did party/hang out/do drugs with her with her a lot. They met via a mutual "friend", IE their meth dealer and it became one of those things where Zoe got Adam a place at the "cool kids table" in exchange for Adam using what connections and influence he had left to advance Zoe's scheming.

There were stories, during Gamergate, that Zoe egged on/enabled Adam's meth addiction and that it led to Morgan and Adam having a falling out. Morgan felt Zoe was a horrible influence on Adam and encouraged/enabled his drug addiction problems and generally speaking, hated her guts. And that the only reason Morgan/Adam even interact anymore after that, is due to Morgan being friends/liking Adam's family and being one of the few people in Adam's life he would listen to when it came to trying to curb his drug addiction problems and repeatingly screeching at Adam that Zoe was just using him and would throw him out of a moving car if he ODed in it in front of her.
