Adam West Dies at 88 - There goes childhood

Adam West — an actor defined and also constrained by his role in the 1960s series “Batman” — died Friday night in Los Angeles. He was 88. A rep said that he died after a short battle with leukemia.

“Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight, and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero,” his family said in a statement.

With its “Wham! Pow!” onscreen exclamations, flamboyant villains and cheeky tone, “Batman” became a surprise hit with its premiere on ABC in 1966, a virtual symbol of ’60s kitsch. Yet West’s portrayal of the superhero and his alter ego, Bruce Wayne, ultimately made it hard for him to get other roles, and while he continued to work throughout his career, options remained limited because of his association with the character.

He is survived by his wife Marcelle, six children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Adam West did a lot of work and put a lot of love into everything he did. He was in several cartoons as various voices (including a Batman one for an episode), and I always loved hearing his voice. I'm going to miss him.
That would be Batman: The Animated Series, he played a character called the Grey Ghost.
So basically, a young Bruce Wayne's favorite T.V. show was called the Grey Ghost, where the titular character would appear out of the shadows and smoke to take down various bad guys and save the day. Yes, it's suppose to be a meta reference to Batman himself. The entire episode is really good and ends on a heartwarming note. Check it out if you can find it.

I know it's sad to lose someone, but I'm glad we got to have him around as long as we did.

Thank you Mr. West, for all the laughs you've given us.

Best Batman ever.

He did the character way better than the succession of dumb, dark, edgy Batmans.

Another remnant of my childhood gone, reminding me I'm not long for this world either.

Everything now goes for dark and edgy. It does not suit all, and especially not suit superheroes. Teenagers should have a role model character that they can easily relate to what is not a total douchebag tv celebrity or anime waifu. Just a honest to Bat good guy. I miss those times too.

RIP Adam West.

You were one hell of a Batman. And Catman.
