I often thought he could have channelled his obsession with roadsigns into a job with whoever deals with roads in Portland. And I forgot about roadsigns, but I think it wasn't so much about the roadsigns as it was Phil just having an obsession with things having labels. I.E. his numerous useless tattoos.

I don't know the rules for tattooing in regards to refusal but seems like anyone asking for that in a reputable shop would be asked to try elsewhere. Especially if they know its not earned.

That being said a "harmless" turtle is a sign of crossing the equator and I don't think many artists would shun that if you just were a fan of them.

Knowing tear drops or other things are both crime related and "earned" it could put you and the customer in danger.

I have always thought it’s got a 2 pronged approach. For one Road Signs signify getting away from a situation you don’t want to be in. Even as awful a person as he is, even if he caused his own suffering, he legit doesn’t like the situations he’s been in.

The second is that Road Signs are orderly and something that someone with intense autism easily understands. This route goes here, this goes there. This is how fast you need to go. This area has particular rules. You get the deal.

As for why he’s so genocidal? It’s just power fantasies. He’s a person with no power at all. Even the most outcast of society are uncomfortable around him so he lashes out. And the worst (or best) part is, he has no real excuse for it. He has no addictions. He had a mom who loved him until he beat her up. He had a great support group who he alienated for his weird behavior (and these people are generally tolerant). There was never one point of introspection that said “Hey maybe I am the problem”. There was no effort to lose weight or eat healthier. He quit his only job over a name tag. With braces he could fix his teeth. Wear sunglasses to cover up his eyes, or hell the weight loss would make them less pronounced. It is his fault. He cannot accept this so he blames everyone. However some things are just cool to him for whatever reason and so instead of being an Italian-Anglo American Asexual Man, he’s now a Puerto Rican-American Pansexual Genderqueer Transwoman.

He doesn’t even understand Maoism. He doesn’t understand it’s largely a Rural and Third World Ideology that isn’t compatible with his Lifestyle. He liked the China Character in Hetalia. I'm kinda ashamed now but as a kid when seeing reruns of "The A-Team" and "Greatest American Hero" on TV I thought that "Belly Buster" was an actual burger chain in California instead of something created by Stephen J Cannell. It was mentioned in at least one episode of each show to the point where "Captain Belly Buster" the superhero type mascot of the chain showed up in an episode of "Greatest American Hero".

Frasier Crane showed up on an episode of "Wings". Many moons ago they had a crossover on "Diff'rent Strokes" with the characters from "Hello Larry" and they made Mr. Drummond and whatever McLean Stephenson's character's name was as being old Korean War buddies. It's often times a way to bring a fan of one show to another or to help a new show get off the ground especially when one follows the other.
