It isn't really tolerated anywhere except Western Society. All the places he idolizes and fetishizes, Russia/Soviet Union, China, Cuba, Latin America, the Middle East...his life would literally be at risk being a tranny there, especially with how much of a loudmouth he is about it. At the very least he'd likely be imprisoned for it. Aside from a couple of Asian countries like Thailand who have embraced that lifestyle (and even there you better be passing to be accepted), the Western (read: white) World is the only place on the planet he can get away with his bullshit without being assaulted, dropped off a building, stoned to death, shanked, or imprisoned. I believe Phil is actually paying the rent, with Toren "contributing" when he can (read: never). If anything, Phil's situation would probably be improved by Toren leaving.

Spoiler: The Toren-Tim-probably Phil drama

Feb. 4th: Toren claims his "girlfriend" has 'come out' as asexual. It is unknown if this is Phil or even something that really happened. Toren aids in Tim's panhandling.

Feb. 5th: Tim wants a "tube site" shut down.

Feb. 6th: Tim wishes "he said no" to his "first girlfriend"

Feb. 6th: Toren is still retweeting Tim's panhandling.

Feb. 9th: Tim hopes for karmic vengeance.

Feb. 10th: Toren talks about one of his "alters."

Feb 10th: Tim tweets a panhandling request for Phil. A minute later, Toren says he set boundaries so he "doesn't get hurt" but has hurt someone else by doing so.

Feb. 10th: Two hours later, Toren says he hates blocking trannies and 25~ minutes later he claims Tim is trying to "destabilize" his "housing situation." He later claims Tim was being abusive and ignoring boundaries Toren set.

Feb. 11th: Tim is having some kind of meltdown which is now deleted, Toren whines about being called a backstabber.

Feb 11th: Possibly another now-deleted meltdown, Tim says he needs a break from Twitter, hates to have a friendship ruined over "something stupid as another person," presumably Phil.

Feb. 11th: Tim tries to apologize, Toren chimps out at him and publicly calls him an abuser and claims he has somehow put Toren's "personal and professional livelihood at risk multiple times."

Feb. 12th: Tim believes he was Toren's "only lifeline" and will be unable to "save" him now. Toren's drinking problem may be what caused this.

Updated, Toren's alcoholism is mentioned and probably what led to all this.
