That's a really common mindset with American consoomer fanboys. "You're not a REAL FAN if you don't mindlessly consume and unconditionally love every entry." I'm more critical of shit like Shankar's slop because I'm a fan.

The amount of shameless corporate dickriding these people do is insane.

Genuinely insane. Product is shit/could be better and they defend the slop. See it with mma as a sport as someone who has watched it for years - it’s getting worse but if you don’t like it/watch it all you aren’t “a true fan”.

I had an argument about why I hated what they did to Alucard and the most common counterpoint that keeps getting brought up is bisexual vampires existed in fiction because they think I'm a homophobic chud. Suppose I had no issue with Alucard being bisexual (I also have no problems with gay characters if they're written well), that's not why I hated it. I hated it because it was gratuitous and added nothing to the actual plot because they wanted to be like Game of Thrones (thanks, HBO).

I love seasons 1 and 2, but 3 was baffling, and that was part of what made it baffling. You want to explore Alucard as a character beyond being a cool demi-vampire badass? I'm here for it. But what was the fucking point of anything that happened then? It wasn't a setup for anything.

I original guessed that Alucard "becoming his father" would make him the antagonist for season 4, but they just dropped everything that happened in season 3. What a mess.

I hate that argument, I encountered it a lot too.

“Vampires are creatures of the night! They’re weird and creepy, it makes sense!”

Me: “I literally dgaf about gays and their “rights”, YOU do, and yet you’re the one saying they’re degenerate by default, so it makes sense that creepy creatures of the night are always them. *thunk-provoking*

It’s this ridiculous default storytelling they subscribe to, like: “humans are the real monsters/monsters are ALWAYS supposed to represent outsiders never evil.”, “capitalism bad”, “bad guys aren’t really bad guys unless they believe things I don’t.”.

I think the biggest problem with him is he's so obsessed with publicity he's putting his name out on shit he's not even affiliated with like nocturne. Hell if I'm not mistaken he's said he had nothing to do with seasons 3 and 4 but because he paid for the first production he slaps his name on it.

It's annoyingly confusing.

It does seem like this could be genuine, since he gives off huge Neil Druckmann vibes of wanting to destroy existing characters in beloved franchises to forcefully push a new set of unlikable characters.
