Just slightly related: if you get a jar of kimchi, I always recommend refrigerating it first before opening. No, kimchi does not smell as bad as what I've heard about surströmming, but IME it tends to froth and get all over the place if opened at room temperature.

If you look at some of the Southern white Protestant denominations and how they act in church it can be kind of similar and I'm not sure who influenced who or whether it was a little bit from column A and a little from column B
