Age of Sigmar

Yeah I actually just ordered some things from a bunch of Etsy 3D printer/sellers to test out their quality. I bought from a few of the top rated sellers to test out which ones stuff looks the best and arrives the fastest. Still waiting on all of them to arrive but they look pretty good from what I could see on the pics

Nice! If you would be willing, I would love to see pictures when they get there : )

Ngl, I look forward to 4rd edition.
Wonder how GW will fuck it up this time.

Age of Sigmar has improved since its inception, but in my view the lore is still in a spotty place, and is inferior to Fantasy. It's designed to grant as much arbitrary, made-up shit as possible to justify your rainbow-coloured Elves from the Nth dimension without any real fixture or adherence to lore, thus allowing BL authors to make up whatever they want as well. I vastly prefer the anchored regions of Fantasy/Old World, as crafting a story within the confines of an established world requires a lot more challenges and talent than being able to make up whatever takes your fancy.

What AoS does have and does well is the model range. On the whole, it is fantastic.

The issue with AoS is that it is generic as hell overall. You can't differentiate it from a ton of "cool design boring lore" franchises but with the extra issue is that it's completely static. And I don't think there is any amount of iconi characters like in the original Fantasy.

I maintain that Age of Sigmar is the "Warcraft" brand of Warhammer: it's a flashy-looking comical aesthetic, but the lore and environment feels indistinguishable from any other generic fantasy.

That's also why the "progression" that takes place in Age of Sigmar doesn't feel like progress at all, at least to me. They just say, "made-up area in arbitrary realm is under attack - rolls dice - random faction wins". None of it matters because when you allow for anything to happen anywhere, what stakes are really there to govern what is important and what isn't? The Realms are essentially 40K planets and unless these main hubs actually change hands and the balance of power shifts in a tangible way, everything else will be insignificant. The only interesting developments are the new army reveals.

So when I look at this new Vermindoom stuff, I think "meh". New models and all, but the "Sigmar lied to us" stuff was fake and gay advertising that means nothing in terms of story. Sigmar will still release a bazillion Chambers or whatever as long as GW thinks they will get away with it, and without some kind of rogue/anti-Stormcast faction, the hubbub about them losing their humanity is irrelevant.

...OK, but why are they all niggers?

I heard AoS is where they shove all their DEI shit to keep it out of 40k. No idea if true.

I've actually felt like picking up AoS, although I couldn't tell you why. Sigmarines are more like 40k Custodes, yeah? And their version of Knights are ugly as fuck giants? Are they really squatting the Skaven to put them back in Old World?

What's the name of the AoS version of Kill Team, and are they fucking it up by time limiting the teams like they are in 40k?

Kinda, but personally I don't think it's much worse than 40k. A little harder to niggerfaggot-ify things when you are given trees, lizards, rats, and various flavors of corpses and greenskins to work with

I'd say the stormcast are more akin to space marines(hence the nick name sigmarine), bloated inventory and all. Biggest things I'd say they have in common with Custodes is penchant for gold armor and next to no lore, and I guess women now.

You are thinking of Beasts of Chaos (goatmen). Skaven is way more popular and just got a range refresh

Warcry, and I dont believe so. List building for warcry has a lot more freedom. Outside the dedicated box sets (which exclusively build their own warband), you can use most any non-named hero, foot, and cavalry model from an army.

The exact opposite. They dumped skaven with legacy rules and no life support.
Meanwhile in AoS, they got new units, refresh for models as old as 5th ed WHFB. They were also the first army to get a book in 4th ed, which is a double edged sword.

AoS got spearhead in 4th ed. Instead of customizable warbands, like in warcry, you get a small fixed army list consisting of 3-6 units (infantry units are usually cut down to half).
The only customisation options are an ability of the army and an enhancement for the general of the army. The gameplay consists of contesting objectives, completing tactics and playing around twists with the latter two being determined by cards. As for the setup, all you have is a two side board and four pieces of terrain.

wasnt sigmar balls the one they killed off for a few weeks before realizing it was a bad idea? or was that another fantasy subset?

Once upon a time, Age of Shitmar was more playable than 40k because of 8th edition was really bad; then came 3rd and 4th that fucked everything up. Whenever I go to hobby shops, I see Shitmar just collect dust, and the few stores in my area are beginning to carry less GW shit nowadays. The current Shitmar Fomos are still collecting dust like Dominion.

Is Warcry still a thing?

Tribal Orcs also got squatted (guess why). Skaven aren't going anywhere, but I can see Ogres getting axed next.

ESG and DEI bucks (what's with the first guy's armor? It looks off as a Sigmahreen). Why does every Black bitch need to have some kind of braids or shaved haircut? The worst thing about these minis is the monopose stuff GW loves (god forbid you want to customize your minis).

It's more or less true, sadly.

If they weren't 105% Amerimutt niggercoded how could you tell they're meant to be niggers? Duh.

Then came 3rd and 4th that fucked everything up
2nd edition was something of a niche game, but GW started pushing it towards compfagging.
By 4th edition, most of the flavor is gone and everybody is just spamming the same units to table the opponent by turn 2

Ogres are in an odd spot. For the past 3 editions, they got fuck all in terms of new models. 2 heroes, 2 terrain kits, one of which was part of the new warcry band. Everything else are leftovers from Fantasy Battles. One of their subfactions is currently dead in water, due to crappy battle pack rules.
Chaos Dwarf are heavily hinted towards making a comeback, so ogres are unlikely to get more than a pity hero and advance the power creep, when their battletome is released.
As for the Old World, they were placed in the limbo of "Legend" armies, so if AoS removes them, a lot of people with end up with worthless paperweight

Crossing from the 40k thread. The AoS Battleforces are half sold out, whereas only 1 of the 40k ones have hit that point. Not sure if I just loaded the page right as they went up or what.

The only Battleforce that's sold out is the Dark Angels one. That's surprising to me, but at the same time, $240 isn't near the discount I was expecting. Or maybe I just lucked out and loaded the page right as it was opening up?

Edit: Oh, the Sigmar Ones are doing way better.
