AI Art Seething General

Forgot I was in this thread, it looks like the same bunch of losers who've never made anything (other than women uncomfortable) are still jerking off to artist tears for some reason. I hope you know you aren't anymore special than they are because your goyslop dispenser draws you women with fat tits (the highest form of art). Its like you guys see the furries with 5th grade level art skills, and get jealous that they can do something you can't. Probably magnified by failing to surpass someone like Chris-chans skill level.

Some pretty pathetic jealousy taints like half of these posts.
I'm an artist. I'm also a woman. I believe that if your art can be replaced by AI, you bring nothing to the table in terms of creativity. If you are threatened by it, you are aware of how little you bring to the table.

AI image generation is a tool and it should be available to everybody. Artwork shouldn't be something that is locked off to an elite and/or gifted group of people. That's what it's been for a long time.

The AI is helpful, but it has no imagination on its own. No matter how many hours I spend tweaking keywords in these programs, it can't come close to what's already in my head, nor can it quite replicate my art style.

I'm also a writer and feel the same way about text-based AI. Again, if you feel threatened by its mere existence and you haven't figured out a way to use it as a tool, you have nothing to offer.

I find it telling that even you who sees AI art as natural selection for you and your competition, you still think that the only possible way I could have empathy for artists who are effected by this is if I myself was one. I'm a STEM major because I like money and computers. AI art fanatics can't fathom someone not wanting to be involved in their R&D for free, I have to assume most of them are virgins.

'cause they don't understand consent!;)

My guy. you're the very person being mocked in this thread. Maybe self reflect on how gay this post was and screw off. I'm not big on techbros making a huge deal over AI, but I also hate spergs malding over the sheer thought of AI existing. Speaking as an artist myself, Ai is ultimately a tool. You can use it for reference, inspiration and a whole slew of other stuff that could've taken days prepare. Heck, Even some industry professional make use out of it instead of whining on twitter about dem dang bots taking me jerb.

I completely agree. Ai is great as a tool, I've seen some really promising generative AI tools, I'm excited to see what comes next. I've noticed a trend that not a single industry artist I've met has badmouthed AI, at most they're cautiously optimistic about it. I've only ever seen artists on Twitter and students negatively react to it. The studios I've visited have used AI and at my work generative AI is used by the department across the hall.

It seems like the majority of the ai art seething comes from outside the industry, or from voice actors, who are actors and thus fags.

Getty Images, a stock photo's company that currently has a standing lawsuit against Stability AI for copyright infringement has announced their own generative AI tool.

Remember when anti-AI was creaming in their pants because of the thought Getty Images or Disney would destroy AI?

Without actors, half the stuff made wouldn’t work but I get where you’re coming from. Some times folks don’t want to put up with all the cringe of working with them, so cutting the middleman is the way to go. Though, ethics-wise, it can be bit questionable and sometimes it be better just to hire the actor outright.

More detail on the deal of the WGA of the Writers Strike.

The link below is a summary of the 2023 WGA MBA, although I haven't seen the whole document, I will assume the content is accurate to the deal they made. Concerning the thread is the topic of AI covered in the 5th section of the 16-part summary.

1695849868430.png

This is honestly a lot more lukewarm of a response than I expected against AI.

First, it asserts that AI cannot be considered source material and, therefore can't be credited. So you can't credit ChatGPT as a writer, but the writer itself. This sounds like AI cannot be used to adapt literary material into a script, but the entire thing implies all this says is you can't use AI to rewrite an existing book and credit the AI as a writer. So I think this just means that AI can't be credited, not that it can't be used period.

Second, writers can use AI when performing writing services, but the studio can't mandate it. Which I thought was never an issue as writers never claimed they wanted to use AI tools nor did I get the impression that any studio would mandate it. This seems like it addresses none of the issues people have with AI. Potentially what this will do is hold off studios from making proprietary AI for their studio. This is the only reason that I might think will hurt the AI industry, but nothing here suggests that studios won't release a commercial product with AI.

Third, it says that the studio must tell if the material given to the writer is AI-generated. I think this is only significant as the studio can't give out inauthentic research materials to their writers, but frankly, I don't really see how this will discourage the use of AI in the industry.

The only thing that can potentially hurt AI in the film industry might be the fourth statement, which says that WGA has the right to assert that training AI on writer's material is prohibited. But I'm not so sure how strong this is, nor am I sure if this is a hard ban on AI training because there is also this article below that implies that this right is still left impeded. It gives me the impression that this is a finger-wagging to the studio, and there is a lot of wiggle room to allow AI training.

So overall, this is not an outright ban on AI that many were optimistically seeing, and it concedes the use of AI in several areas.

Another point I want to address is that AI is only mentioned in one section of the whole summary. This doesn't seem to reflect how much AI was a talking point in the discourse of the writer's strike. This makes me think that either; AI wasn't nearly the biggest issue for the workers as we imagined, or that the studio refused to budge on their right to AI and this is the best compromise they could make.

Unless someone else can clarify the summary for me, I don't think this is the win or loss for either pro-AI or anti-AI they expected. I can't see AI industry getting screwed over royally because of this deal.

I can tell when I actually put effort into it. AI text is a little more self evident but it now takes me a few paragraphs before it just becomes obvious. It used to be I could just instantly detect it.

It's definitely getting better and pretty fast. I really think we are possibly getting close to it approaching actual rather than artificial intelligence. At the moment, it is still artificial intelligence because it isn't actually intelligence, and can't really fool you if you put some effort into it.

Previously you had to put no effort into it at all, it was just obvious.

It helps that current "art" is such absolute garbage that it is actually deliberately worse and uglier and less appealing and more soulless than what AI generates. Literally less soulless than what a machine can do, something with literally no soul at all. Current "art" has negative levels of soul to it.

You only see Alegria art on Google and Facebook and shit, this art style isn't popular for a reason, and AI isn't going to force them to use a different style.

Just seeing it sends me into a seething rage and makes me put whatever product is advertised with it on a DO NOT EVER BUY list.

WGA is a bunch of nepotistic jews who churn out slock. I love that this threatens them.

I am part of an amateur RPG community and I love the artists there seethinh that amateurs can now 't have pretty images for their characters made by AI.

All artists learned from observing and mirroring art the way AI does.

If you, as a human, cannot generate art (visual, written, whatever) that has more meaning and personality than what a machine can do you have failed. Art is meant to convey something about your experience as a human to other people. People love and appreciate art because they know someone made it and there is some intent behind it. Its an act of communication that crosses time and space.

Art is about communication, whether it's to entertain someone, educate through dank memes, or con people into paying for your BLM painting. Some of the most famous artists today are the best marketers in their field, slept with the right people, or had a stroke of luck combined with hard work. Most of them have good "people skills", or money backing them.

Artists don't necessarily need to make better looking art than a computer, now or in the future. If they care about being noticed, they need to be more interesting and compelling. They need to be salesmen and hustlers. There have always been great but starving artists.

Machine learning and algorithms are also being used to deconstruct virality and optimize for search engines and social media, so you could be outmarketed by a computer. If all else fails, try cutting off your ear on a live stream.

This is all the perfect example of one of mankind's greatest failures in shortsightedness and a lack of empathy for people society hasn't told you you need to care about in order to be considered a good person.

You had these artist types look down on and turn their noses up at workers who were replaced, seeing their jobs as unskilled and mostly worthless, thinking of them as hicks, and now all their jobs are being streamlined too, but they feel like main characters and that something both should and will save them.

Linework and painting are on their way to being drudgery and grunt work outsourced to machines, steps skipped over as often as making your own puff pastry or creating your own tools from scratch. If you wanted to preserve these processes as fundamental to human creation and expression then you should have said so several steps back, not wait until it effected you rather than " the immigration hating rednecks" who don't see neo liberal austerity for the working class to increase profit margins for an ever shrinking circle of people as a good thing.

You can cope and Sneed that ai will never replace you but in the end the world will brush you aside with all the callousness and snickering that you gave to all the other obsolete and forgotten things. We are all expendable so long as we're willing to create disenfranchised groups to further enrich the general economically relevant public.

I'm usually on the bullies' side, but AIcels sneeding about how it's all over for human art and writing are in for disappointment. 90IQ normgroids won't be making anything meaningful even with the pentagon processing unit strapped to NASA flight calculator. Cuz they're just a delusional bunch of midwit w(n)iggers, twisted by advanced machinery into crude mockery of creative endeavour.

And to top it off, they should have realized this a year ago.

A study of one of the most outspoken anti-AI proponents on the web.

moepi av.png

Moepi (itzmoepi/Tenpi/imtenpi/P14y3r) is a 22-year-old male from New York who makes chiptune music, is a prolific web developer, dabbling artist, and really really REALLY hates AI. Spends all day every day sperging out on Reddit and Twitter about how harmful it is. Has performed extremely autistic long-form studies of ways artists can add noise to their images to make them un-scrapable for AI art...methods that no artist would ever use because of how destructive it is to the entire point of making art in the first place.

He is also obsessed with Genshin Impact and the lolicon character Klee, his most common avatar online. I defer to Null's judgement on wielding the p-word carelessly, so I'll just describe it as it is: on art sites he has favorited drawings of naked anime children.

As I prepare this breakdown, Moepi is currently in the process of DFE. Youtube videos, Soundcloud and Twitter were all up yesterday, now barren and locked down. Fortunately I've been working on this for a bit and was able to connect some of the dots before today. For example, before he privated his Youtube, one video promoting his Discord bot showed him visibly logged in on the now-deleted Reddit account imtenpi, and http://www.redditanimelist.net/users.php (https://archive.ph/BzFyd) connects this to the myanimelist user Tenpi.

If anyone has a passing interest in this individual and is better at collecting information than me, do it quickly.

Moepi is a moderator of the subreddit https://old.reddit.com/r/ArtistHate/ (mod list no longer public) and will ban anyone who says anything pro-AI at the drop of a hat.

Moepi continually performs very scientific polls of random internet users to get their opinions about AI, and then randomly alters the results to suit his own conclusions.

:story:

As seen at his Github, Moepi has created a lot of websites and tools to promote sharing of lolicon pictures, but shut them down earlier in 2023 due to extravagant hosting costs. At one point he had registered unique email accounts for running each one, such as cutemanga.moe@gmail.com.

https://web.archive.org/web/20220518210851/https://moebooru.moe/posts

Here are his lists of watched anime and manga. I don't know anything about any of these but I would not be surprised if most are about children.

https://myanimelist.net/animelist/Tenpi (https://archive.ph/ovZo6)
https://myanimelist.net/mangalist/Tenpi (https://archive.ph/TrzJm)

I hesitate to post the archive of his pixiv bookmark list since it contains the aforementioned naked child drawings, I don't want to subject others to that uncensored. Most images are merely questionable if not outright pornographic. There are a dozen pages of such images. I will post the direct link to his pixiv below, since it requires an actual account to view his bookmarks.

On Reddit, Moepi comforts a user who loves lolicon as much as he does, saying it's fine as long as you don't sexualize them...

On a lighter note, Moepi has created page after page of infographics about methods to defeat AI art, representing hours of work and study which is of absolutely no use to anyone at all. Seriously, if you go to his site https://rgbwatermark.net/ and click on the question mark, you can scroll for 10 minutes as he examines various ways to corrupt pictures of lolicons so that AI might not be able to scrape them properly. I just joined this site, cool knowing it has a forum. I'll try to be as active as I can :)

I have been watching anime for a few years now, the first one I saw (excluding kid shows such as Pokemon and Digimon) was Higashi no Eden. I am also studying the Japanese language a bit, hopefully in a few years I can understand what the characters say without subs. I'm currently a junior in high school and am from New York.

Anyway, nice to meet everyone.

All this time spent seething that could've been spent instead on making quality art.

This is sort of throwing the baby out with the bathwater, no? Also no one's going to be interested in buying multiple 1TB SSDs just to store 3-4 pieces of artwork on it.

This is just confusing. Please don't tell me that thing on the left is the source. What is the purpose of protecting your art if it means you've got a take a giant shit all over it?
