AI Art Seething General

Might be a schizo take but on the cooming aspect: being able to just make what you want, how you want it, and quickly means less time digging through an image gallery to find something decent and minimizes exposure to utterly degenerate shit. I can see that really pissing off the Roblox gooner types whose whole schtick is partly enjoying the farts and moreso exposing as many others to it as possible.

While this is a good theory there are porn addict degenerates that got into character AI and uses it as a tool to expose their fetish to people. Example below. I can't stomach watching the entire thing again to directly link my reference, but trust me it does get mentioned.

And why the fuck is it that troons are the biggest anti AI people now? It's almost a cliché that if you're a troon, you hate AI art, and vice versa.

Because morality is trade coin for these idiots. The only thing that matters is to stroke their egos, and to be on the right side of the mob. And speaking of morality. This just came out.

And like always, the usual suspects come out of the woodwork to screech about it. And even a familiar sped from other threads.

Holy shit anti AI artists fucked themselves by fighting to make AI slop noncopyrightable.
Good luck with that. Very little can't be copyrighted. Lists like phone books. Surveillance camera footage. It has to have about zero creative content. If someone had to put in hours with training and prompts to exact specifications and then edit it to remove flaws, there's no way that's not copyrightable without completely rewriting copyright law.

Maybe if you just entered a couple words into an existing model and let it spew thousands of images, those wouldn't be copyrightable, but then since they were effectively public domain, you could train other models on them regardless of what their origin is.

Globohomocorp has spoken. They want this stuff and they're going to have it, no matter how much wailing and gnashing of teeth comes from plebbitors and similar vermin.

They can cry all they want but dynamic NPC who can respond in real time to what you actually say sound rather than predefined option. like a very cool idea.

Steam updated their AI policy
Back in June, we shared that while our goal continues to be shipping as many games as possible on Steam, we needed some time to learn about the fast-moving and legally murky space of AI technology, especially given Steam's worldwide reach.

Today, after spending the last few months learning more about this space and talking with game developers, we are making changes to how we handle games that use AI technology. This will enable us to release the vast majority of games that use it.

First, we are updating the Content Survey that developers fill out when submitting to Steam. The survey now includes a new AI disclosure section, where you'll need to describe how you are using AI in the development and execution of your game. It separates AI usage in games into two broad categories:

  • Pre-Generated: Any kind of content (art/code/sound/etc) created with the help of AI tools during development. Under the Steam Distribution Agreement, you promise Valve that your game will not include illegal or infringing content, and that your game will be consistent with your marketing materials. In our pre-release review, we will evaluate the output of AI generated content in your game the same way we evaluate all non-AI content - including a check that your game meets those promises.
  • Live-Generated: Any kind of content created with the help of AI tools while the game is running. In addition to following the same rules as Pre-Generated AI content, this comes with an additional requirement: in the Content Survey, you'll need to tell us what kind of guardrails you're putting on your AI to ensure it's not generating illegal content.

Valve will use this disclosure in our review of your game prior to release. We will also include much of your disclosure on the Steam store page for your game, so customers can also understand how the game uses AI.

Second, we're releasing a new system on Steam that allows players to report illegal content inside games that contain Live-Generated AI content. Using the in-game overlay, players can easily submit a report when they encounter content that they believe should have been caught by appropriate guardrails on AI generation.

Today's changes are the result of us improving our understanding of the landscape and risks in this space, as well as talking to game developers using AI, and those building AI tools. This will allow us to be much more open to releasing games using AI technology on Steam. The only exception to this will be Adult Only Sexual Content that is created with Live-Generated AI - we are unable to release that type of content right now.

It's taken us some time to figure this out, and we're sorry that has made it harder for some developers to make decisions around their games. But we don't feel like we serve our players or developer partners by rushing into decisions that have this much complexity. We'll continue to learn from the games being submitted to Steam, and the legal progress around AI, and will revisit this decision when necessary.

Interesting. I don't doubt what they have in mind when they say "illegal content" or "appropriate guardrails", but I imagine the wording is vague enough that this will cause some issues for them in the future, depending on what kind of games are submitted, even if they expressly disallow Live AI Generation for AO content.

Wonder if some schlub at Valve will get stuck scrolling through art/text and having to get exposed to stuff, or if they'll just mark down how many reports they get and toss it into the dev's hands to handle, lest they get their game removed.

These fucking people bitching about ai art being theft but not saying a word about how the artwork section of every game is literally filled with stolen uncredited artwork

Also what is valve suppose to do? The cat is already out of the box with ai art and it's already in many games and going to be the norm, ban it all and lose out on profit just to appease a small percentage of whiny retards?

Because a large number of troons use art as a way to grift and the only thing that trannies love more than the idea in their head of what they look like and molesting children is grifting as many people as possible while doing minimal work.

It's also because troons show up in art circles because they are porn addicts and the art community, especially on Twitter is a hotbed of porn addicts. They have a low esteem for what they are so they try to use causes like this to cope.

the amount atheist degen troon cat artist gotta be staggering lol

I don't know a crazy amount about AI, but some years back, some Redditor called literally all of this happening. And I mean years before DALLE or GPT. He outlined in detail everything that is happening now down to individual stuff like text to image and making music from raw audio waveforms, all supposed to happen around this exact time, and the responses were a mix of either saying it wouldn't happen for decades or excitement. I didn't see anyone seethe, but then again, I don't think anyone thought he was sane.
