this is likely why optical chipsets are now being considered over silicon for the future of AI. Additionally, hybrid-quantum optical CPUs (if you could even call them that anymore) would be massively parallel in ways the human brain could never be. Eventually you could have one of these systems with multiple q-cores controlled by a central optical delegation center, not simulating one mind, but simulating every possible permutation of every lobe, if we take the neuro-morphic approach. I'd say at that point the hardest part would be allocating who controls the computer, but I'm guessing Google and the DoD (via IBM) will be benevolent as they are always in allocating such things.I don't think it's impossible to simulate thought with silicon, I just think you could only do it with incredible latency. (Imagine having lag between portions of your brain.)
didn't know where to post this but it was too funny not to share, I got so frustrated with how sycophantic AI models like ChatGPT and Bard are so I swung wild for help with a project and it's working out great.
Technology has reached the point where Swordfish no longer seems like a completely satirical take on hacking.
You just answered your own question. There's no way for any of us to prevent it, so there's no point in sweating and raging about it. We might as well make use of it for our own gain while we can.To all AI enjoyers: What makes you think it's a good idea to move towards a future where humans become obsolete in labor, resulting in ordinary people no longer being able to exchange labor for currency? You do realize that at that point the only things that can happen are either UBI (very optimistic to think that this would be good in globohomo with our ruling class. You really think there won't be strings attached to that UBI?), or the economy completely imploding and the collapse of society, right? Once elites no longer need the rest of humanity for labor and services, what interest do they have in keeping the rest of us around and not wiping us out with a virus?
...
I'm not saying that it can be prevented. If one country bans it, another will just take advantage of that and push forward full steam ahead. My point is that this is obviously catastrophic for ordinary people, IE everyone here on this site. Unless we have secret Kiwi billionaires, of course. It makes no sense for everyone to be as casual and cavalier about this shit as most people, even here, are being. This stuff keeps me up at night.
My question wasn't "Why aren't you freaking out", my question was "For those who think this is on net a good thing for ordinary people, what do you have to say about all the reasons why it probably isn't?". It's good to try to prevent things you can't control from getting to you as much as possible, but that wasn't my question. You just answered your own question. There's no way for any of us to prevent it, so there's no point in sweating and raging about it. We might as well make use of it for our own gain while we can.
>the delusional fantasy that it will lead to luxury gay space communism where they never have to work again on the daily. And if you just call me a redditor because most of you faggots are pro-AI and I'm anti-, you are a retard. Go to reddit and you'll see that the majority of those fucking subhuman paste-eaters are soyjaking over AI and the delusional fantasy that it will lead to luxury gay space communism where they never have to work again on the daily.
You're a retard. I said that either UBI with strings attached would be rolled out (get in pod, eat bugs, whatever), or that it wouldn't and the elites would just kill us all with a virus or incompetently let the economy implode.>the delusional fantasy that it will lead to luxury gay space communism where they never have to work again on the daily.
yet you're saying that AI will replace everything and humans will live in luxury space communism except its bad
if everyone could will anything into existence, you wouldnt need to trade stuff because you would have everything you need, so the economy wouldnt existthe elites would just kill us all with a virus or incompetently let the economy implode.
As much wealth as they do doing what? Selling what service to who? Selling what labor for what currency when human labor is obsolete?there would be no economy because nothing would have value if the robots did/made everything for us
also there would be no elites since everyone can acquire as much wealth as they do instantly
see the newer post i just madeAs much wealth as they do doing what? Selling what service to who? Selling what labor for what currency when human labor is obsolete?
Almost half of Americans wouldn't have enough money to pay for a sudden $1000 emergency. Do you think that all of the remaining 55% would have the money to purchase the land and AGI-equipped androids they would need to be on the level of elites and be self-sufficient? The former 45% absolutely would not be able to.
Current advantages would transfer. You are a special-needs crayon-munching bonafide fucking retard.
My post addresses what you just said, you 80 IQ inner city nigger.see the newer post i just made
refresh your goddamn page because you aren't addressing the fact that value wouldn't exist if robots did everything for usMy post addresses what you just said, you 80 IQ inner city nigger.
At the beginning, you're gonna have to actually buy the androids, you get that, right? Why do you think I brought up the fact that half of Americans don't even have the money to weather a sudden $1000 emergency? Most people also don't have land. Most people won't be able to buy land and they won't be able to get androids to provide them with shit once they can't exchange their labor for currency anymore. Very good chance that 90% of people will be stuck as UBI serfs forever. You trust the elites to be benevolent in this scenario? These fucking people?refresh your goddamn page because you aren't addressing the fact that value wouldn't exist if robots did everything for us
Shoot the robots. Problem solvedAt the beginning, you're gonna have to actually buy the androids, you get that, right?
