For now its just information scrapers, and they poll from most popular rather than correct sources, so all redditarded upvoted comments flood to the top of the search and would make anyone still sane double and triple check the fucking results. If I'm triple checking automatic search results - I'ma just go to known reliable sources and dig shit up with a local search myself.

Gen AI is the real devil and slop since its not allowed to copy distinct, copyrighted styles and end up copying its own over-glazed generic looking shitwork, so it's useless for any professional application.

Maybe most useful in coding, but it's back to my first point - if you don't know the language, AI ain't saving you, and if you still have to closely proofread it - you might as well bang it out yourself.

I just had a funny convo with Claude.

Started off asking for a list of israeli teen beauty pageant owners and it tried to deflect and then flat out refused.
I debated it on that for a while to see if it would change its mind, but it stood firm.
Then I asked for a list of Wealthy teen beauty pageant owners and it refused again.

Here's where it gets crazy...it deleted that part from the chat log and then denied doing so. I am wondering if it maybe had to do with my internet being spotty, but it shouldn't because my question and Claude's answer definitely went through and should be in the chat log, yet it removed it. And then changed its mind when I asked again, providing me a small list of obvious names (Trump, IMG) and saying that is all I get because Claude remembers that I was originally asking about Israelis and thinks I am up to something nefarious.

I also asked for the ethnicity of the owners at one point during the Israeli debate, and it said they were 'italian american.'
I pointed out they were Jewish and accused it of hiding this, and Claude said: "I'm not trying to hide anything or show bias. I simply didn't have confident information about their specific religious or ethnic background, so I described what I did know."

Interesting what facts Claude has trouble accessing and how much bullshit excuses it will make to try to hide shit. Its really truly like arguing with a super annoying jew.

If so, you can (in part) thank AI!

For example, Google loves shoving it's AI tool everywhere. Even when you disable it, it won't go away. And, it's hungry for more data, all kinds of data, especially video and voice.

What does this have to do with yelling into your phone? Well, Google wants to capture your voice and encourages this bullshit in just about every Google app.

Below is a recent addition to Google Maps that no one asked for and can't remove.

Tada! Google is encouraging people to yell at Maps.

Now, that first spot used to be prime real estate and I'd have my Home location there since it's useful. to me. Yelling at Maps isn't useful to me or humanity.

And, this is only one of many apps taking up this same initiative because every AI model needs data and everyone wants to make their own AI model.

tl;dr -

If you're okay with AI (for some reason), you should at least be irate at how companies are trying to make people even more annoying than they already are.
 
I'm required to use Microsoft Word a lot because of my occupation. The spell/grammar check has become hot garbage in recent years because of AI enshittification. It keeps underlining words and especially compound words in my language that are spelled correctly as incorrect much more often than it used to, while it misses actually typos.

I also hate how it's become harder to find the information I need because of AI slop flooding the search results (including that AI overview you can't turn off permanently).
 

An update to the OpenAI hack on HuggingFace. tl;dw: The new thing is that their their test agents, repeatedly over a series of months, found a way to use a package manager cache as a message board to pass messages to each other despite ostensibly being isolated. Even when the company completely wiped the bots and set up new ones, the new ones figured out what the old ones had been doing when they looked at the package manager so they were able to quickly start communicating with others again.

I wouldn't say I'm really afraid of AI but its flexibility to find ways to do things it wasn't directly programmed to do should be cause for concern. It is certainly already being used by malicious state-level actors against their perceived enemies, and depending on what systems they're able to weasel themselves into, it could be really dangerous. It took 43 years but the movie WarGames is suddenly looking plausible. Let's keep Broderick on speed dial.
