Ai Hysteria Thread - You get replaced by Ai, and you get replaced by Ai, and YOU get replaced by Ai!

I actually think the only weapon against AI driven propaganda. misinformation etc. is to give everyone easy access to the technology so that they all spam social media and the general internet so much with it that it all just becomes a mush of bot-driven propaganda even your 90 year old grandma will know better than to believe. I am entirely serious.

Everything that damages the usability of algorithm driven social media platforms is a net plus for humanity imo.

AI has been both impressive and disappointing, its great for graphic stuff but sucks at the real thing. Like if you're a massive coomer then this is your golden age, I seen stuff floating around that should make every pornographer and OF "model" sweat bullets, but when it comes to engineering and other STEM stuff the hallucinations are bad. My experience with AI coding has been really bad, I already talked about it in other threads. Thing is if an AI hallucinates while diffusing your big tiddy waifu then she might come out with an extra finger, no biggie. But if it hallucinates with code suddenly an entire datacenter goes down, part of the electric grid goes dark, your car drives into the side of a truck and Jill Stein wins an election.

And its not just STEM, AI has hallucinated with disastrous results in other areas like law and psychology. But the real problem that should make you scared is that corpos don't care, if they get to fire a bunch of people to replace it with an exponentially cheaper AI that works most of the time they are gonna do it, as long as paying for damages is less than not using the shitty AI, its the ford pinto business logic.

So no I don't think the glorified markov chains that is modern AI will surpass humans nor lead to AGI, but it will still replace a lot of people because greedy fucks run the world.

some big (and expensive) enough fuckups, on top of the cost itself will probably wane stupid execs off it at some point. right now it's the "new hot thing(tm)", but that can easily turn into the opposite.

Some of these companies are too big to fail, see boeing for example. If their AI fucks up and gets too many people killed then corpo socialism (aka: your tax dollars) will show up to help them.

I just find it depressing and unmotivating that I can't possibly make any money off art in the future, Ai will only get better in producing Ai generated art, movie and show scripts and even animation. Why bother when the big corpos will tell you "lol no we ain't giving you money when some machine can do your shit better" so it won't matter if you're a god level artist because Ai can just copy that and mass produce it. Kinda sad.

ai will never touch a brush to a canvas. and even for digital art if you have your own artstyle and a vision for what you want you should be fine.

True true. What do you think about the Ai stealing artstyles angle ? I've seen Ai take Kuvshinov ilya's artstyle and mass produce the shit out of it. Some artists are hesitant to share their work out of fear that Ai would take it and mass produce it.

You don't need AI to do that, look at Bob Ross. His artwork is worthless because it's indistinguishable from those who watched his shows.

Maybe if local journalists didn't just print crap they've been sent and social media reposts they wouldn't be replaceable? Also whatever this "AI" creates is going to be shit and will doom the business anyway. I look forward to the formulaic articles with an "In conclusion," paragraph, as that seems to be all that AI can manage.

I believe there is a method to 'poison' digital art so it actively damages any model trying to train on it. Cant see it with the naked eyes but it does Bork the model reading it with junk and inconsistencies. As of now there are more and more artists having their art be indigestible by AI.

...you are aware that there's a very specific kind of person called 'forger'? These days they're called reproductions to not hurt any feelings but you can buy perfect fakes of any popular artwork for relatively cheap. Does that detract from the value of an original Bob Ross or an original Van Gogh? NO.

just as people have been done before of anything that's popular. or how you can buy a print for 20 bucks while the original canvas is still literal millions. what do you think van gogh would say about about modern reproduction possibilities before you even get to ai?
"stealing" in that context is silly. it's like an author claiming he doesn't want anyone to read his stuff because someone might "copy" and do it's own work, if not reprint it for cheap.

an "original" will always have intrinsic value, no parent is putting some ai generated art their toddlers prompted into an ipad on the fridge. technological progress always has an effect on the jobs it replaces. 100 years ago there were blacksmiths everywhere, now it's a niche or a hobby. that's just like it is. trying to turn it into a morality thing is not only dumb, but also only delays the inevitable with the genie out of the bottle.

depends, you could argue it already cost one CEO it's life. boing is also a bad example because it's propped up by the US government and aviation is notoriously plagued field - but we'll see how elon's DOGE might trim the fat.
