My heart breaks for the future of us. Even if it forces society to go more analog, people at the top can use this to easier than ever before to create fake news and propaganda. I know they’ve done it before, but now it will be done 10x the speed.
I know we’ve been going down this road for years at this point but it makes me feel sad still.

What makes us human is not valuable in the purist of profit. I hate that humanity hates itself this much. I hate that people don’t value their children and just let them run around the internet unattended. Technology has flung us into idiocracy. 🎩

they now have something called synth to help "spot AI content" but the risks are still massive. If you think these companies don't need any form of regulation on this you're a retard at this point. I think they're trying intentionally kill the internet. And media itself. It's great they're trying to stall states creating regulation on this for 10 years! People and politicians using this to deceive totallyyyy watermark their shit with synthID!! I love how you scroll down they act like these tools are built for filmmakers and musicians, that it was made "ethically". These were clearly created to deceive and drown the internet in nothing but fake bullshit.

There was a guy who made a video earlier this month that predicted that the future of movie theaters would be a choice between ai or human made and the human made content would be like 1000$.

this shit has been depressing the hell out of me lately. I always wanted to be a content creator or make a show, but with the dead internet becoming more and more real and the potential death of a lot of industries I admired for years. Im stuck wondering what the hell I’m even going to do.

We truly are in the end times. But the retarded bug men will insist that somebody with common sense and concern is a “Luddite”. Or comparing us humans to horses. Nigga do you really hate humanity that much? These people who are so pro-AI hate themselves and don’t even know it.

Oh look, this new technology that can drastically speed up one's ability to find information and learn from it. Well nevermind all that, let's create a moral panic about how kids will stop reading books and start plagiarizing everything by copy-pasting from Wikipedia!

Seriously, I couldn't give less of a fuck about what the lowest common denominator of society is saying about or doing with AI tools. The technology is wasted on the foolish. They're basically cavemen playing with magic, enchanted rocks. But people who actually know what they're doing can use it to have an outsized effect.

When it comes to social media specifically: frankly, social media was already an unoriginal shithole before the rise of generative AI. There's not really much difference in terms of intellectual quality between MrBeast's 1000th video of giving away money to fake contestants or pretending to care about charity for ad revenue, and some AI generated slop (which is occasionally genuinely entertaining). Actually I hope it becomes so ubiquitously unavoidable that it completely destroys the cancer that is social media altogether.

We're already at that point. Once every so often, I see someone admitting to using ChatGPT to either summarize an wall of text or proofread their own arguments. And what's interesting about it is that it's usually someone who would get all of their info from a feud on TikTok

The unfortunate truth, that or the internet gets so censored and regulated to the point it's borderline unusable. Texas just passed a law for digital ID's to prevent children from getting on the internet. Google has thrown money at Hollywood to create what's basically propaganda films to try and brainwash the public that their concerns are unfounded. They're making short films to make AI seem less "pessimistic". They even tried portraying exactly what you said as a good thing in ads for veo. When they say that we can't stop the AI race because "china will win" I think it's more them saying that they want to have as much control and censorship over the net as they do. Maybe "AGI" is just a term they use to cover up their actual intentions?
