Remember this guy? The genie who used to be able to guess almost any character you could throw at him? He’s stupid now, the YouTube generation has ruined his knowledge. After 50 questions, he couldn’t guess Taki from Your Name, and Taki wasn’t even on the list of characters he was thinking of! One big problem I noticed is that if you let him continue after 25 questions, he seems to forget everything you told him before.

Several years back I was drunk and decided to beat Atkinator by making him guess towards the protagonist ("protagonist") of the Starcraft map series The Bob Levels. I succeeded, as one would expect with such an autistically obscure character, but I remember Atkinator did come fairly close by guessing both Daggoth and Zasz from the original Starcraft. I entered the character name in at the end, and even provided Bob's portrait from the mod.

I went through the full 80 questions again and I was not impressed to say the least.

Old Atkinator guessed Daggoth within the first 25 or so questions and Zasz on the second run. This Atkinator guessed neither in all 80 questions. At the end when it let me query Atkinator's records directly, there was no Bob The Cool Cerebrate listed. I'm forced to conclude Atkinator's database must have been wiped, or a brand new program is being used instead.

I noticed putting Bob in a second time that there was no space to upload a photo either.

I went with an extremely deep cut character from an Ultima Online comic. Gave all 80 questions which repeatedly looped around to asking if she was part of youtube show, a boy, or if I'd spoken to them recently. That last one felt a little odd given the 'is this character real' question is posed very early. Guess it was making sure I wasn't lying.

I was able to get Jewsh within 20 questions. Maybe I got lucky with questions. It was weird. Akinator had a tougher time guessing Gordon Freeman than Jewsh. It went through questions related to every other Valve character before landing on Gordon.

Akinator is kind of based. It asked if my character was a girl. I said no and it still got the answer. Even akinator thinks trans women aren't real women.

He used to be so "all knowing", he couldn't get "The Phantom of the Opera" right for the Phantom but he got Christine pretty quickly. I also tried for Spongebob and he kept going in between Spongebob question and FNAF shit before finally deciding "You're thinking of Spongebob".

I remember playing Akinator way back in the day and how accurate it was. Nowadays, I don't know if there's just too many obscure characters from way too many games/films/books/what have you and absolutely way too many Z-list youtubers and celebrities for it to be nearly as strong. Entertainment has just gotten so massive it's impossible to keep up with, even for a crowdsourced database.

In the end, I think it's a sign of the times and the clownworld more than anything... In it's defense, it still guesses A-list people and characters fairly well, as in, if it has a wikipedia page, Akinator will most likely guess it within the first 20, fictional or not. But it won't guess that smelly feet prostitute from Fallout the Frontier because, well, literally who.

I know it's basically throwing softballs, but it guessed the big 3 Gaming Lolcows within the first 20. DSP, Wingo and LTG. I haven't really pushed it with more obscure ones. It's still kinda fun even though some of the questions make me phisically cringe. To be honest it's just fun that it's still around, even in it's diminished form.

I tried getting him to guess the protagonist of Cruelty Squad, and he kept asking question whether he made toy reviews or reaction videos on youtube. Even though he already got a "yes" when asking whether that was a character from a video game.
Also, there's no option to show the game report anymore, which is disappointing.

I’m pretty sure he straight up doesn’t have a way to rule out related questions, which is why you still get FNAF questions after saying no to “Is your character from FNAF?” and still get questions about subscribers after saying no to “Is your character a famous YouTuber?”
