I would honestly like to hear her explain what she thinks homesteading entails. I'm assuming there's likely some sort of homesteading content on TikTok, and that's what she's been watching. But we're talking about someone who "facilitates" cooking for her toddler. Ari made the mess with the paint, and Alex won't be the one to scrub the child or the floor. Alex has a dog, but the dog is with her baby daddy's parents because she's unable to care for him. Exactly what does she think homesteading would look like for her? Making her latest unqualified Gen Z caretaker shear sheep and churn butter while she films and squawks a voiceover for TikTok?

It will never happen, obviously, but I'd really like to know what she's thinking (using the word loosely) here.

Wow, she's having an obviously more difficult time holding her head up at all. She's completely slumped and like melted into that chair at this point.

I agree that she looks more slumped and contorted than she did pre-pregnancy. She hasn't looked great recently-- she seems puffy and swollen, too. She's admitted that she's always been lax about doing what doctors recommend, and that-- plus the ill-advised pregnancy-- may really be catching up with her.

People have been asking her to start a separate account for OF stuff since Ari was born, and she finally did it. I doubt she'll use it consistently: Ari also has her own Instagram account, but Alex seems to forget it exists and posts on it in bursts.

I'd noticed this too. Sometimes it's so swollen it looks like the skin is going to split.

I have been in the hospital for the past few days after having to go to the ER, I am doing much better and I am at home recovering.

Taking a bit of a break, I will give more updates soon, but I am doing much better.

Some notes from Reddit (I looked there to see if they happened to have caught anything):

• Blanket is high over her neck. They speculate tracheotomy. I thought it just looked like she was cold.
• They call the photos the Great Wall of Narcissism, which is very funny.
• She apparently quit Paxil cold turkey a few weeks back (I missed that).
• Someone says she was active on OF every day last week (I didn't check) and speculates there's a market for medical fetish stuff featuring her in the hospital. There probably is, and I really don't want to think about that.
• They point out she probably won't be truthful about why she was in the hospital. I agree. My first thought was another alcohol-related incident. Remember, she's tried to get sober at least twice in the past, both times after alcohol landed her in the hospital and put her very near death. The doctors don't know why it happens, but it does.
• They remind us that she's so close to the TV because she won't wear the glasses that she's prescribed, claiming they don't fit on her head (this is true; she's claimed that a number of times before, while always continuing to wear sunglasses).
• Others point out that her legs are tilted up, which it's unlikely she'd do without medical direction-- seems legit. She's also fully covered-- hiding bruises from a chair tumble? Marks from lines? Or just looking for sympathy? All of the above?

NOAH WATCH: he's been intermittently resharing whiny "I'm a BPD brat who blames my parents for everything" mental health reels to his Instagram stories. Never mind that his parents have three other children who appear to be normal, well-adjusted, non-fuckups and that they're raising his kid, who is very clearly a happy little ray of sunshine.

It's her stomach area. Her tit lives in her armpit. Her torso is like that because of SMA. There's also a thing colloquially known as "SMA belly." I googled it just now and actually managed to hit on a piece by Alex herself that I hadn't seen before (archive). Notably, Alex does nothing to help herself: no physical therapy, doesn't sit properly in her chair, doesn't go in for regular adjustments to her power chair (these are vital). Pregnancy also made all of this much, much worse and seems to have wrecked what little bit of core strength she had. So this is a SMA issue, yes, but it's also an Alex issue, because she doesn't take care of herself and ignores medical advice.

I've been concerned about the state of her legs and feet for a long time. Glad to see shes actually elevating them for a change.
The swelling has been getting steadily worse over time, but the last few months it's been really bad.
Her feet and ankles have been odematous and discoloured from fluid pooling, and we have never seen her elevate her legs or wear compression stockings.
I'd bet on renal problems, assuming the hospital thing is real and not another of her lies.

Could also be something like a DVT that caused a pulmonary embolism, that's not unheard of for people who are immobile. Mind you, with her 21% lung function I'd have expected her to be in hospital longer.

You could be onto something, because she did reveal the reason for her hospitalization, and it's something with multiple possible causes, including renal issues. I'll summarize what she said, but I hope that people with medical knowledge are able to sit through her voice long enough to listen to what she says. She may be saying or implying things that I'm not knowledgeable enough to catch.

Here are the videos discussing the hospital admission:

Summary: she'd been vomiting for unspecified reasons. She ended up with metabolic acidosis "really bad," and her potassium "dangerously low." She was "severely dehydrated from nonstop throwing up." The throwing up and been going on for about two days, and she wasn't able to eat for about 48 hours while she was so sick. After admission, they "checked out" her heart and "did all these tests" (not specified or elaborated on). After being released, she anticipated being able to eat normally again and to get back to normal quickly-- she says she always bounces back quickly after "medical things." She's been home for a few days, though, and she's still struggling to get food down. Not currently nauseous but has no appetite. Has mostly been eating smoothies at home and ate one slice of pizza. /end

It just seems like a very vague update, and she typically overshares. She didn't actually say why she was throwing up in the first place, which certainly makes me wonder if it was alcohol-related. I'm hoping our resident medical kiwis can come up with some good theories.

She also posted a picture of food. The nuggies spell out Ari's name, but notice all that ranch-- I'm betting these were for Alex, and Ari is safely with the Smiths. And, really, it would be better for anyone in this situation if the toddler could stay with her grandparents while her mom is freshly out of the hospital, so I don't know why Alex is pretending.
