The bed is just the perfect example of alex holding ari back because she know she is powerless.
How will this manifest when Ari becomes a teen? Will she even have the possibility to form her own sense of self or will Alex try to keep her close, afraid of losing her only friend and content machine? I think she's the kind of parent who want unconditional love, not a child that is its own person.

I feel sorry for ari because Alex will become more and more aware of just how worthless she is as a parent, but so will ari so I wonder who will lash out first?

Neglecting her health (her words), a high risk pregnancy, not taking meds specific for her disorder, all the alcohol, not sleeping well is definitely taking away from her overall life expectancy. I’d be stunned if she’s still alive in 10 years.

Reddit is currently up in arms over this photo of Alex’s mom, taken sometime in the last “two years.” No other context from what I’ve seen. Usually Reddit is way too into pearl clutching, but the part of me that had firearm safety drilled into my brain is sending up red flags since we can’t see her grip near the trigger and it’s not unreasonable, based on the angle of the photo, that she is pointing in someone’s direction. On the other hand, if she was actually planning to fire the gun, she sure as shit wouldn’t be holding the barrel like that. Or maybe she is just that dumb, who knows.

The sign in the background—“I am not arguing, I’m just explaining why I’m right”—feels almost too on the nose, given she appears to be shouting while holding the gun.

Yeah… maybe he took it thinking he could threaten to send it to someone? Big maybe though, plus I don’t know who would have enough influence on Alex’s mom to make that something she’d care about.

As for Alex… well, if she was there, I actually think she’d be much more likely to be the one to take the photo. She’s claimed abuse from her parents in the past, and given all the other dumb/incriminating shit** she’s put on the internet, I could see her trying to threaten to expose her mom to her followers (not that her mom would really care, but Alex doesn’t understand that most people don’t give a single shit about internet clout).

Or it’s a mysterious third party, and they snuck out their phone to snap the pic (whether or not Alex’s mom noticed, who knows). That seems most likely, but no idea who it would be.

Why is the photo automatically malicious? Because a reddit mod says so? To me it looks like a photo taken during a silly moment goofing off with family.

Granted it may just be a white trash thing. I have a few grainy photos of family members that I could definitely throw online with a fear mongering caption to make them look like monsters. Is she even holding the gun properly? Like if she was legit threatening someone wouldn't she be holding it different?

I can believe, based on what we know of Alex's parents, that they're into any and all forms of white trash antics, including brandishing firearms. I don't understand, though, how a photo supposedly taken by John has come to light. Knowing Alex, she'll probably say something soon that basically confirms that the photo is exactly what Reddit says it is.

There's been a little movement in Noah's battery case. He's gone from being pro se to having a public defender. Documents show that he has no sources of income, no car, and is over $14k in debt. He's filed a motion to dismiss, but that has no response yes. His public defender has filed some discovery stuff, but it all appears to be generic forms-- no case-specific information.

The motion to dismiss appears twice in the court docs, so I copied it both times, just for the sake of completeness. The most interesting stuff is the information related to Noah's complete lack of funds.
