Ralph absolutely could not have pled guilty for reduced charges over a year before his revenge porn conviction.

Ralph had no means whatsoever to apologize for his behaviour to the Vickers family, and there was no way for him to put behind all the animosity for his son.

All these things were simply beyond his power. Unachievable, completely beyond him. He was kept from his son, and there was no means by which he could have been involved from an earlier date.
