Then again, with no niggers or faggots front and center in the film*, maybe the Chinese will eat this slop enough to make it succeed.

The Chinese market can be great for bragging rights in terms of boosting the overall box office. However...... the best guestimates available are that the proportion of that box office that comes back to the western distributor is between 20 to 25% as opposed to approx 50% for most of the rest of the world.

So when you see an initially impressive Chinese box office take; divide it by 4 or 5 to get to what the film maker actually sees. It becomes a lot less impressive really quickly.
