I find it interesting that most of the live action anime projects I read about in the 2000s actually did ultimately get made like Speed Racer, Dragon Ball, Kite, Ghost in The Shell and Alita.

The biggest exceptions being Evangelion and Akira.

Akira might still happen, but there hasn't been any talk of the Eva movie in ages.

I really wonder what that Eva movie might have been like.
I mean, there's Pacific Rim. But it only completes the mecha part & perfects it a bit in 2nd one (even if it's the only good thing about the 2nd one). The other things about Eva to be done may be hard.

Pacific Rim definitely gives you some idea of what a live action Eva movie would have been like.

Really it was pretty nuts that they tried to make an Eva movie as the first Hollywood adaption of the mecha anime genre, it'd be like if Watchmen was the first superhero movie.

They made the right decision when they made Alita's behavior overtly creepy in this scene. You can see Hugo's shock and horror well.

This is my favorite panel in the entire series thus far. Years later and she still misses Yugo. Gets me right in the feels...

Yukito Kishiro's art is up there with Kentaro Miura's. I first read Battle Angel Alita around 14 years ago, and I was immediately hooked. There are so many kickass panels in this series. The movie's good, but the main upshot of it is getting people interested in the series as a whole.

If you've never read it before, then just read this shit, nigga:

Then, buy it. You won't regret it.

Mars Chronicle is still ongoing. The plot is fucking loopy as fuck. Six volumes in and I'm still not sure what the fuck is going on, exactly. I'm sure it'll come together eventually, though.

There was also a PS1 game. I've played it on an emu before. I mean, it's not that bad, but it definitely hasn't aged well.

I recall hearing that the ps1 one wasn't so hot when it was new either

I tried the audiobook novelization of the movie, but the guy they picked was just awful.
Should've used one of the audible mainstays like Rc Bray or even,I dunno,Kieran Culkin. He reads too fast but of course you can adjust the speed
