I think Phelan is not gay, he is just disinterested in that aspect of relationship. I mean look at him - pale, noodle arms, beta beard, house full of toys and Canadian. His testosterone is history. As for his relationship with Allison, I think she was the one who took the initiative. Her last boyfriend refused to go against Channel Awesome, so she found someone more of doormat type. Sure, Phelan can scream at a bad movie or game, but arguing with a woman? Just look at their interactions during crossovers. So their sex life goes like this - she doesn't ask, he doesn't care, he is fine with what he's got. And that's not something uncommon among CA couples. There is a chick who reviews vampire movies and she claims to be asexual like Allison despite being married and having a child. Her husband is also from CA and probably never had testosterone in his system. Same for Murzgirl. But if you want gossip - I've seen people talking that Allison defecates on Phelan's chest, maybe that's why he is OK with their relationship being so distant.
