I think I'm gonna enjoy this. I'm surprised Trump had such an impact by merely saying "alt-left", it's not exactly a new idea. You see "ctrl-left" being thrown around a lot, too.

I enjoyed watching Trump insist that one reporting define alt-right. It wasn't like he forced the "alt-left" term either, it came about naturally after pointing out the vaguery of how the media uses "alt-right". Trump did a good job sticking to his points and not getting sidetracked by reporters (in my opinion), which might be the true source of salt.

The press conference in question was primarily about reducing regulatory redundancy and overhead in order to push infrastructure. Everyone loves infrastructure (except ancaps), Republicans, Democrats and economists love infrastructure. The US stock market jumped up and never really came back down immediately after Trump took office.

I wonder what eventual tax reform will take place, likely a highly neutered and debated compromise if anything is to pass. I honestly think the RNC official policy will run over Trump's personal stances.

To be fair if someone ever unironically identified themself with a term as meaningless as alt-left I'd think they're retarded so I can get behind hating them.

Honestly Trump could probably abolish currency or nuke Iceland, if it's not identity politics nobody in the current US political climate is going to care.
 
I, for one, welcome this new term. However, it must be given a clear concrete definition that cannot be stretched to fit anything left of harvesting the poor for their organs. As long as the term is only used to describe left wingers who engage in identity politics, I have nothing against it and feel like it could be a useful tool to denigrate and eventually eradicate the degenerates behind antifa and BLM; or more likely just produce enough salt to keep this thread running long past the time Trump leaves the white house.
