I own no other social media than Reddit. I was seduced by its plethora and diversity of communities and it quickly became the platform where I spent most of my online activity.
However, a few weeks ago, my main account was terminated because of ”hate speech against a minority”. By that, understand that I criticised one of the world's biggest religions. But this is a discussion for another day.
My alt accounts were not banned, so I started to use them instead of my main. I posted on a sub, which I had no memory of being banned from on another account, but apparently I was. So I was given a seven-day suspension for evading a subreddit ban. I was fine with it even though I still can't remember being banned from that sub no matter the account (and when I speak about my alt accounts, I actually had two. Three accounts in total with my main. It's not as if I had dozens of alt accounts.)
But a day or two after I got the seven-day suspension, all of my accounts were permanently terminated. There was no explanation whatsoever, and I had already gotten a sanction for evading a subreddit ban, so I decided to appeal the decision. All I got as an answer was that the decision was right, with the general reminder of respecting Reddit's rules to avoid getting banned again. So I assumed this meant that I was allowed to create a new account as long as I did nothing wrong on it, so I created a new one.
I had the new account for two days before it got definitely suspended too, with no explanation. I did not subscribe nor post on a sub I'm banned from. I did not comment anything against Reddit's rules. Nothing hateful, nothing rude. I appealed again, but I already know what I will get as an answer.
Now I figured that creating a new account would be in vain since it seems that I'm not allowed to be on Reddit anymore. But I still wonder if there's hope that I will be allowed to return some time in the future?
Reddit is the only place I know to come in contact with very specific groups of people, otherwise hard to come by in the vast realm of internet. Though I'm not ”addicted” to Reddit, it was by far my favourite place to go when I have nothing to do during my daily four-hour train ride. I'm really interested in lesser-known countries as well as their languages and history, Reddit was perfect to find people from those countries or also interested by them. Now, I can indeed still view the contents I subbed to, so it's not as if I couldn't access the platform whatsoever. But I'm still a bit sad not to be able to communicate with the communities anymore, since it represented most of my social interactions on the internet. And my in real life social interactions are really shallow and superficial.
