As if the recent attempts by current developer Crystal Dynamics to both censor the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered collection and distance the franchise from its “colonialist” origins hadn’t already left fans utterly exhausted with the franchise’s handling, Amazon has officially placed a series order for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny star Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s previously-announced-as-in-development, live-action Tomb Raider treatment.

Word of series protagonist Lara Croft’s return to live-action was officially confirmed by Head of Amazon MGM Studios Jennifer Salke during the company’s first official upfront presentation – a type of event wherein a given studio will show off their upcoming productions to major advertising entities in the hopes of selling ad spots – as held on May 14th.

Taking the stage to reveal the news, Salke further detailed that not only was the series, as previously rumored, set to be penned and executive produced by the aforementioned Waller-Bridge, but that it would also center specifically on long-time franchise protagonist Lara Croft rather than any side or original character.

Later speaking to Amazon for an official press release regarding the series’ green-lighting, Salke asserted, “I’m so happy to announce that we have ordered the epic, globetrotting series Tomb Raider from the incredibly gifted Emmy-award winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge and the team at Crystal Dynamics. Fans and newcomers can look forward to exhilarating adventures that honor the legacy of this iconic character.”

Likewise, when asked for her thoughts on the series’ green-lighting for an official Amazon press release, Waller-Bridge excitedly asserted, “If I could tell my teenage self this was happening I think she’d explode.”

Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators,” she added. “Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all.”

Waller-Bridge’s attachment to a live-action Tomb Raider series was first rumored in February 2023, courtesy of a report penned by Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva based on information relayed to her by supposed insider sources.

Four months later, Waller-Bridge would not only confirm to IGN that she was involved in the project, but also provide the first details on her approach to adapting the beloved IP.

“There’s so much I can incorporate,” she told the video game news outlet. “I mean, the character of Lara Croft was inspired by Indiana Jones and James Bond. So there’s so much, and it just felt like the perfect final step in my own personal adventure through this kind of franchise world.”

“I love the idea of, as Steven Spielberg describes it, ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’, as in being able to make things with that scale and to go on adventures that big and for the comedy and the heart to be matched but on this kind of great, great level,” she added. “And, actually, through all the adventure stuff that I’ve learned from those [franchises], it’s actually how to keep something feeling grounded as well as allow it to be bigger than itself in some way. And so hopefully that will all translate perfectly, seamlessly into Tomb Raider.”

As previously reported, in addition to Waller-Bridge, Amazon’s Tomb Raider will also feature the writing talents of WandaVision and story editor and The Marvels writer Megan McDonnell.

Notably, Amazon’s Tomb Raider series is set to be just one part in the company’s planned ‘Tomb Raider universe’, an interconnected media endeavor that would connect through various television, film, and video game projects.

To this end, according to Andreeva’s aforementioned report, though Waller-Bridge is primarily working on the television series, word has also circulated that “she also could be involved in the potential movie”.

However, as of writing, not only does the television series the only ‘Tomb Raider universe’ entry yet to have been officially announced, but Waller-Bridge’s attachment to any potential movie also remains unconfirmed.

This bitch must give the most incredible head because she is completely without talent and utterly unattractive but keeps getting work.
I have a thing for marginally attractive brunettes. She's alright.

But I fucking loathe her. How many franchises has she killed so far? James Bond and Indiana Jones? Might as well kill Tomb Raider, too.

The refusal to fire Kennedy baffles me but at least when she was hired you could think Oh yeah she has done a ton of shit she should know what to do. I was kind of hoping that with all the money lost they would finally start getting it but I guess not. I am not uncoinvinced that this is a Producers situation where they are trying to lost money only in this case...they are.
Because firing her would be admitting that they were wrong and those darn racist, misogynistic, white male fans were right.

The only person with the authority to fire her is Bob Iger and he’s equally committed to burning Disney’s legacy to the ground.

Amazing how much you have to hate making money in order to destroy a literal money printing machine like Disney/Marvel/Fox is now.

PWB looks like an ironing board with two noodles of spaghetti stapled to it
And she ruined Indiana Jones. How does she keep getting work?

I really want to understand this mentality of failing on purpose.
DEI/ESG money basically means big megacorps no longer have to worry about their shitty shows/movies turning a profit, as the chief reason for DEI/ESG money existing and being given out so freely is to ensure that megacorps can eat huge loss after huge loss off of woke anti-life shit and stay afloat financially. Since one of the chief goals of woke anti-life shit like this show is to force, at gunpoint, "cultural consensus" that this is the new norm by eliminating anything in pop culture that goes against the anti-life agenda from having any sort of mainstream coverage or promotion or airtime. It's why all of these woketards demand that their shit has to be published, broadcast, distributed by a megacorps, since that gives it cache of being "mainstream" and whoever controls the mainstream controls the culture of society and through control over culture, reality itself.

There are several theories as to why the cunt hasn't been fired

1. She's got a huge file of blackmail material on just about everyone in Hollywood from her days as Spielberg and Lucas's gopher and will go scorched earth if she is made to pay the consequences of her bullshit and people like Spielberg who would be destroyed if Disney called her bluff on her MAD, have enough pull to get Iger to keep her employeed because no one wants to be the guy who destroyed Spielberg (who has considerable power in the industry)

2. When Lucasfilms got sold to Disney, she got a contract that made her unfirable without Disney paying an obscene, crippling even by megacorp standards golden parachute deal to make her go away along with "cheats" to keep her from being dropped even if they argue that the damage she's done is so great, that beggaring themselves to be rid of her would be cheaper in the long run. With one of these cheats being that so long as she's working on a new film project, even if it doesn't get made, then Disney can't fire her. It's one of the chief reasons Indy 5 happened and why movement on Episode 10 being made suddenly kicked into gear, since Kennedy can't be fired so long as they are in pre-production.

This is a popular narrative but it’s simply untrue. It’s fairly obvious that they genuinely believed that they’d only lose a tiny percentage of their audience that could be easily made up by courting the “modern audience”. They never expected to lose money at all, people were supposed to keep paying for the privilege to consoom their slop. Yes, they actually ARE just that out of touch.

I could buy this the first time. Maybe even the first couple times because corporations are stupid. But seriously how many hundred-million-dollar flops would there need to be to make you doubt it was just incompetence?

Correct, there was a quote by one of the producers of the latest series of Dr Who along the lines of "for every heckin' transphobe who will stop watching, two new viewers will come on board due to our awesome inclusivity!".

As we've seen though, that maths just doesn't play out in reality.

After the movies and the shitty remakes. I can't be bothered to care anymore.
At this point, the best response to this crap is to just refuse to acknowledge it. There's more than a century's worth of entertainment. Explore and enjoy that stuff, while the retards in the entertainment industry continue to set billions of dollars they don't have on fire making shit no one watches.

Depends on how many people around you are telling the truth instead of making excuses as to why it failed. "You see, it just wasn't diverse enough" is depressingly common.
