A big problem for this show is how woke it is, that it's kind of hard to look past even if the show has its moments.

Now the biggest one that I haven't seen shown in this thread yet is how they blackwashed (and genderbend) so characters for literally no reason.
They really couldn't help themselves here.png

But for real, there are original black and female characters from the comic but I guess there just wasn't enough, so they had to "make" more.

who the fuck is going to say “we’re totally fine with giving up the power to decide our own fates and let a foreign invader rule over us, they know how we should be living way better than we do!”

Uhm, the EU? Plenty of people want to turn it into the United Stated of Europe.

I do think it would make for a more interesting story if at least some characters wanted to know what the Viltrumites could offer them.

I was just watching a few videos on Youtube about the comic, which I haven't read, and in the comic, Omniman doesn't kill the not-Justice-League until issue 7, probably midway through the first story arc at least. Of course, in the show, he kills them at the end of episode 1 out of 8. That's probably why it feels so fucking slow for most of season 1. We already know Omniman killed them all, then we have to watch the super-government investigate for like 3 episodes, then we have to watch Mrs. Omni-man agonize about it for a few more episodes. It's like we all know how this is going to end, with a big ass fight, why do they have to pretend like this is at all suspenseful?

Like maybe they could have slowly worked up to Omni-Man killing the not-Justice League. First he punches Mark a little too hard. Then he punches a bad guy a few more times than he needs to, maybe paralyzing or killing him. Then he goes into the alien dimension and ruthlessly kills everybody, which we see, but the other superheroes don't. Then people start investigating him, and they start not liking what they see etc. THEN he kills not-Justice-League, and he falls all over himself trying to recruit Mark.

I'm still looking for a streaming site that isn't full of malware to watch more episodes, but I really don't understand why Nolan didn't immediately form a harem and breed an army of hapa Viltrumites to go forth and conquer the universe or his home planet or whatever.

Also why would they care to conquer Earth? What do they get out of it - what do they not have at home that they need there?

I can think of a couple ways that someone with Nolan's powers could terraform every planet and moon from Mercury to Titan, so why does he care about conquering Earth? Why do Viltrumites in general care? What makes it so special? Lording it over lesser people? Breeding stock?

Why was he basically farting around and fucking off for 2000 years on Earth before he knocks up a woman?

Super intelligence and wisdom must not be Viltrumite super powers, because if he had the foresight and understanding of the average American politician he would understand that he could simply bribe people to enslave their fellow Americans - let alone humans - and generally oversee things so Nolan and friends could smoke space weed all day and get their dicks sucked.

it makes more sense when you read the comics

As a previous kiwi stated before, the comics go into a lot more detail later on as to why earth was chosen and why the Viltrumites arent everywhere in the galaxy terraforming everything.

Now, "why didnt Nolan make a harem for himself?" is a good question. I think its because he wasnt sure his children would inherit his powers (he only got confirmation of that when Mark turned 18, which was the catalyst to his world domination plan), again, this is further elaborated upon in the comics and the whole breeding viltrumites thing becomes a major plot point later on.

I'm gonna stop at that cuz it seems that youre not done with S1 yet.

I actually don't mind they made the Gambit expy more Mediterranean.

I love/hate this show and comic. On one hand it's a woke, cringey, and often times boring mess that I struggle to even pay attention to. The majority of the series after episode one all the way up until the finale, is in my opinion, almost always consistently terrible when it isn't following the main plotline of the show. That alone is why I think for all that it does right, it's not very good and probably one of the worst superhero things I've ever seen.

But then on the other hand, episode one and the last two episodes of season one were honestly pretty good. I found myself invested in the struggle between Omni-man and Mark. The dialogue is superb for the most part and J.K Simmons kills it. Really, he's the highlight of the show. Everything else it does is predictable and has been done before better (the comic did ALL of this before and did it better). Omni-man though is the show's strength because he's the only three-dimensional character in the show. That last scene where Omni-man is trying to convince himself to kill Mark always hits me in the feels. The stopping when he sees Mark is on the brink, the "Why did you make me do this?!" You can tell despite everything he's a loving father that cares for his son and ultimately he can't bring himself to kill him. Great writing. The villain isn't defeated in a climatic battle with the superhero, but the power of love.

Everything else is a dog turd though. The music makes my ears bleed. Everything just sucks. Watch Omni-man's clips on YouTube and forget about the rest.

I never understood how those shows take so long to make. The script is just an adaption of something made, even the inclusivity is already decided from the first season, and the animation was never something of note (aside of the few times when the dad does something).

do not underestimate how long animation takes to make, especially for an 8 episode hour long series that isnt a 1 to 1 straight adaptation of it's source material

Animation can be a pretty grueling process especially when each episode is like an hour long, and the story has changed a lot from the source material.
