Amazon's Invincible - thoughts?

Anyone giving a shit about your feefees right after you turned their friends into jelly on the wall is a concept only someone brainrotted from Twitter could come up with.
 
There is a slight possibility Conquest does not really have many other characteristics besides being an insane battle-hardened genocidal maniac.

Well that is basically THE ENTIRE PLOT of Invincible, the riveting moral journey of a mass murderer who realized that genocide might be wrong when he was halfway through caving his son's face in, and then was instantly forgiven by everyone who matters to the story
 
Right, Nolan at least had the decency to get outside to buy a pack of cigs on bug planet to give Mark some time to calm down about it.

God don't know if that criticism applies to the show or the comic, but holy fuck the show handles the forgiveness angle better than the comic so far.

Mark like instantly forgives Nolan right when he sees him on the bug planet and begs him to come back whereas the show at least lets him tell his dad to fuck off. Hell the comic even has Debbie cry about Mark fighting Omni-Man and instantly forgiving his ass too.

Like what was Kirkman thinking back then.
 
Doesn't the comic justifies killing tens of millions of Americans (god forbid if it was a non White country) because muh global warming? Which is in itself absolutely retarded when you have Atom Eve who can fix pollution and create infinite resources.

That's what the dinosaur villain said. He glasses iirc Las Vegas and builds a solar panel farm on it, which actually worked as a giant energy source. He's also a pastiche of 90s extreme environmentalist types. Mark explains to him that killing is bad, m'kay? and he suicides by cop.

Eve did just that, all she made died instantly from negligence because niggers.
 
I NEED to see the Dinosaurus arc animated because the discussions about the bullshit that went on down there will be absolutely hilarious.
Like, the thesis of the comics was basically "Hey, you can be as much as a monstrous, barbaric piece of shit as you want, but as long as you say you're good now, everyone forgives you, fuck all your victims!"

Invincible is a shit comic hastily remade into a show that's kinda hit or miss.

I just finished reading the comic last week to see if it's as bad as people say and holy shit it's worse. Mark doesn't give a shit about Earth or humans anymore by the end of the comic, everyone who's unambiguously evil is more or less forgiven as long as they had good intentions, it's like you see all the praise for the themes the show had in season 1 about how his name refers to the Invincible human spirit but in the comics that's just blatantly untrue. He forsakes Earth and everyone on it to tyrannical rule by a man he knows will go insane and become a murderous tyrant instead of ceding control back to humanity and canonically never visits earth ever again, not even to visit his son. Then he has the gall to parrot his dad "What will you have after 500 years?" Despite proving everything his dad said to him absolutely correct. The comic more or less outright states that Mark was wrong to fight his dad and the viltrumite empire because letting them control earth would've been an unambiguously good thing, and that the only thing wrong with the idea is that Thragg is a big fat meanie.

Thats seems to be a huge problem with everything these days, Something becomes somewhat popular so you run it into the ground.

Don't think I've ever seen an adaptation suffer so hard from being true to the source.

tbh, I thought that where the show is now is the moment when the comic truly jumped the shark, but Conquest is a "fan favorite" and I don't think the base is prepared to hear that he sucks and is absolutely redundant. Thus he was left in basically as-is. They tried to give him a personality, but there's not much to work with.

The season 3 stinger being an original non-comics storyline gives me a little glimmer of hope, but if past trends hold, they'll drag the plot back onto the rails before long.

Conquest WOULD be kinda cool if his voice actor even remotely fucking fit him, but even so, he just feels like a rehash/mixture of the Anissa and Nolan fight. It's the exact same "Hey, join Viltrum or we'll fuck you up," "nah" then Mark gets fucked up for a bit until they fuck off or in Conquest' case, plays with his food for so long Mark manages to actually beat him.

I'd argue the whole point wasn't to "give him depth", but to clearly illustrate just how much of a self-pitying psychopath Conquest is, to the point he blames the other Viltrumites for (rightfully) shunning him, even though he himself chose to act like such a bloodthirsty lunatic that even the others are like "dude get the fuck away from me, you're crazy".
At the end of the day, he is still an irredeemable piece of shit, his monologue just gave us some insight into his mind and how he is unable to understand that.

It's very convenient how Nolan never has to address the people of Earth, or the innumerable other planets he slaughtered over thousands of years. Almost like Kirkman knows his Steven Universe-tier hogwash would collapse upon facing the fact that some crimes can never be repaired. Levy, Sinclair, Mohawk Mark, Anissa, Lucan, etc. can all burn in Hell idgaf how sowwy they are.

Earth had its best leader for the world and it had to end because a few heroes had to suffer for it. He was certainly a better person for it then Immortal.

The funniest part is they don't even stop him in a way that matters, destroying his body but leaving his brain intact just put him back to his old level of autonomy. There's no reason he couldn't do it again.
