There's an argument to be made that they aren't even part of the industry - they just want to be a part of it so badly.

There's a substantial and well developed 'indie' industry now, that's why you get the split between AAA developers (companies with actual names like Ubisoft or Activision) and the bewildering numbers of indies who swing from quite well established but low key to complete fly by nights who exist to fleece idiots while hiding behind Steam's shitty business practices
In a world where the barrier to putting a game up for sale is $100, these people who so desperately want to be known as game makers still haven't made anything. Let that sink in

Indie used to mean that you operated on a shoestring and somehow managed to get it together, through the merit of your own work, to succeed despite the lack of backing by some entrenched corporation.

Now it means you're some shitbag hipster with dyed hair, skinny jeans, and (if male) a poofy little beard, blowing your parents' money (and your parents are part of the exact entrenched corporate mafia you claim to be rebelling against) to plop out a piece of shit that nobody wants because it sucks and appeals to no actual market demand.

I know Devi Ever as a supplier of decent to good distortion and sound mangling boxes, but also knew that Dwarfcraft has since continued to expand and (arguably) improve on her original schematics. I mean, the sting of raising money for a cartridge based, semi-modular effect box only to cancel it due to "financial mismanagement" is pretty big and makes me happy I never ended up supporting the Kickstarter despite considering it heavily.
So it only makes sense she would stop what she was decent at, and try to find an easier grift with less work than breadboarding.

As fun as that'd be, I honestly think this thread is like 2 years too late for it. She's already dropped so far so many times, I can't imagine what it would take to get a legitimate meltdown out of her. Forged in the flame of madness.

I've used some of her fuzzboxes on occasion. I will say, she knows how to make a damn good pedal. They weren't for everyone, but she was able to pump out some pretty innovative shit. It's a shame she fell so far.
